We arrived late in the afternoon so were able to get some photographs in the evening light. There are access times to the inside of the church, but we were there too late.

C'mon, now. Let's be frank here .... it's a really nice little church by the lake. This is not a unique thing across the world. However, given its location, it makes for a fantastic photographic opportunity. If you're a keen photographer, you will know not to try to come here at peak times and/or during peak travel season. During busy... More

As part of our rushed trip to Lake Tekapo, we decided to head over to the Church of the Good Shepherd early in the morning, hoping there would not be as many people around as the day before. Lucky for us, a young couple were having wedding photos taken, so I managed to grab a couple of my own. The... More

If you want a great angle to photograph the church drive to the opposite side of the Tekapo River and take your shot of the church with the mountains in the background. In winter you may be lucky enough to get a powdering of snow on those mountains. A summer visit is still a delight though even without the snow.

We were very lucky to be near this church it was only a couple of minutes from Parkhead Motel it is located in the best location right near the water. The Church is so tiny and cute. I love the colourful windows at the back. It is in lots of photos and for the whole day you were never by... More

As we were staying in Lake Tekapo we were able to time our visit between the numerous tour buses that stop here and it was beautiful - not crowded.

Having seen the church in many bollywood movies, I had this location on my bucket list. We arrived there early morning...so pretty much had the place to ourselves. It was bright and sunny too.. so was quite picture perfect! I can imagine the experience not being so remarkable had (1) the weather not been so good or (2) there were... More

Having visited here 8 years ago at the peak of Lupin flowering season (early Jan), we decided to revisit this little slice of paradise. It's still just as beautiful, but despite the posters asking people not to take pictures inside the church, many people continued to do so. I'd still visit, but try to do it early/out of season.
