Onomichi is teh nostalgic town with lots of steps and slopes. To save your stamina, you'd better to take cable car to go to Senko Temple Park first. then you can go down through many temples and shrines. From the mountain top station of cable car where Senko temple park located, I enjoyed the beautifull view of Onomichi town. And... More

Senkoji Park is one of the best & most popular attractions in the area. Various temples, Lovers' Sanctuary, observation (viewing) deck and Museum of Art are just some of things that you can find there. Whether you take the ropeway or walk up the hill yourself, you'll enjoy it. Choose a nice, sunny day to appreciate some spectacular views of... More

Nestled in the rocks on the mountainside behind Onomichi town itself this allows for great views over the area. Senkoji itself has a very interesting layout that takes advantage of it's location. The park itself has a great viewing platform that allows you to watch the setting sun of the distant peaks and islands in the Seto sea.

To get the best view is from the observation deck which is few steps from the cable car station. Also must visit Senkoji Temple less than 10 min. walk down from the observation deck. If you drive, also there is a car park approx 15 walk to observation deck. Locals told us that it is very beautiful at the time... More

This park is not so far from the station so bus is not necessary. You don't have to pay for the ropeway too, because the park is just 15 minutes walk and steps aren't steep and the path to the top is very interesting and full of cats.At the top the park is bigger than I expected and there are some walking... We did this area the day after we did the Path of Philosophy, as we had been running around on this path trying to see all the different interesting temples, shrines, and cemeteries and decided that on our morning before our train took us farther we would take 2 hours to photo the cherry blossoms in the trees and on...
