This Shrine is out of the way so is not crowded. It is interesting but a little unkeep. I went mainly for the garden, which was not very well maintained. It would be a personal choice whether you travelled there.

The shrine is connected to the mainland by a red bridge. Pretty picturesque and since we had some mist, it made for some interesting pictures. The temple itself is a standard affair, but enjoyable. We visited a lot of shrines and temples and although similar...More

Haruna Shrine is nestled in the mountains. Unfortunately we visited in January and it was very crowded. There were lines of cars from both roads leading into the shrine and very little parking. They were sending 5 people at a time to pray because there...More

Very nice place. And a nice place to go hiking as well. The shrines seem to somehow grow out of the rocks.

It is one of the most beautiful places I have been as a spiritual energy spot. The shrine is more than 1000 years old, which was built next to a large rock. 静かで美しい山の中にある1000年を超える古い神社です。不思議ととても元気になって戻ってきた気がします。

Autumn colour superb. A very special place. Jumped each time they rang the huge gong. Stalls with food, crafts & fresh fruit & veg.

Mt. Haruna is located in the mountains s boe prepared for cold and wet weather during the winter months, and possibly snow. As Takasaki-san advised, spring or fall are better seasons to view this attraction.
