Having seen the American Cemetery in Cambridge UK, then the much larger one in Normandy, this was much more modest in its size, being only 26.5 hectares. Still it is worth the 10 km. drive out from Maastricht on a beautiful, country road. You actually...More

We had a local recommend this to us and it was absolutely worth the stop. Maps of battles, acres of US soldiers buried and memorialized from WWII, the land given to the US in perpetuity.

This was taken as a side trip to a visit to Maastricht. A local bus took twenty minutes to reach this wonderful site. The layout of the Cemetery and memorial garden were beautifully presented and were a very poignant reminder of the thousands of lives...More

Memorial Day at the American Military Cemetery (May 28 in the Netherlands) is a remarkable experience. Dutch families have adopted every grave since 1945 (when the cemetery was established), and there is a waiting list of about 400 persons who want to adopt a grave,...More

I would suggest the best option is to rent a car. The cemetery is not close to any public transportation. Also, with a car, you have the option to visit other nearby towns or sights.
