We drove to the Zeeland from the Hague. The car ride is lovely, the scenery of the dunes and the waterways beautiful. We had to pass this massive dam and it really impressive engineering work. You can see the strength of the sea and how the series of dams and watergates keep the entire area afloat and safe. A must-see... More

We visited on April 1 with our Gate 1 river cruise group. Delta Works is a series of dams and seadikes that were constructed because of the damaging flood of 1955. The project started in 1958 and was completed in October 1986 with a international celebration. We visited the Eastern Scheldt storm surge barrier which was the final and most... More

We all grew up knowing that the Dutch have constantly battled the sea, reclaiming land. The Delta Works is a massive and impressive project that both protects the Dutch and their hones, while also protecting and encouraging wildlife and nature. Government, scientists, businesses all working together -- another miracle of the project. Well worth a visit, just to gap and... More

This is an amazing engineering project that actually "battles the sea" and keeps the area safe. It is huge and very impressive and we experienced this right before we went to the Watersnood museum. A great national treasure and a awesome contribution towards keeping coastal communities safe not only here but across the world.

The only sea barrier in the world that can be closed during rough weather also known as Neeltje Jans. Went across twice first with a regular bicycle and this year with an electric bicycle (highly recommend the latter). Wonderful views cycling from the island of Schouwen Duyvenland to the Island of Noord Beeveland. Excellent restaurant and fish store mid-way worthy... More

To drive, walk or cycle over this structure during change of tides one is able to experience the force of the currents from above leading to impressive scenes. When on a sunny day or a windy one you'll find very different scenes to enjoy.

If you would only see and enjoy the Deltawerken, the entree price for an adult is quite expensive. You have special family discount tickets (2 adults + 2 children) that also give you access to the sea animals, aquarium, and other stuff that is nice for children.

The deltaworks in itself are quite impressive, but the location of this attraction is completely off according to the map!! We lost an entire hour, because we followed the map given here, but the deltaworks are actually around the Deltapark Neeltje Jans.
