A Trip Back In Time Come and meet our friendly staff and take a relaxing ride on our heritage steam train through the beautiful Mendip Countryside. The return journey takes approximately 40 minutes and is a 5 mile round trip. You pay once and you can ride the trains all day! As well as riding the train you can visit our engine shed and workshop and see our restoration projects up close, while away an hour or so chatting away to our very knowledgeable volunteers. We also have a signal box and miniature railway (these are only open on specific dates), small museum, a big shop and cafe serving delicious homemade meals each day we are in steam. We also offer Cream Teas, High Teas and Sunday Lunches on specific dates which need to be booked in advance as they do sell out very quickly. Our season runs from March to October and then we run our Santa Specials in December.

We combined a steam railway visit with sight seeing in Bath and Bradford on Avon near-by. There was lots of information on this former branch line brought back into use by the animal artist; David Sheppard. We especially enjoyed a visit to the engine shed,...More

We visited (4 adults and a nearly 3-year old) on Easter Saturday. The weather was not good - cold, windy and showery - but we enjoyed a few hours here. We arrived hoping to have lunch before going on the train but the cafe was...More

This was a great day out and good value for money. You can ride on the steam train as many times as you like, although it was busy and it was hard to find a seat. You can get out and have a look around...More

Visited last Saturday on probably one of the coldest days of the year. The cream tea treat was a gift. Unfortunately, it was quite disappointing as there was no heat in the train at all and it was sooo cold it really took any enjoyment...More

Four of us went on the first steaming day this year. At £15 I was dubious but it was worth it, especially as it included limitless rides all day, plus they were fun. Riding in an old first class corridor coach. Memories. Only a few...More

We loved our ride on the steam train. Although I agree with a previous reviewer that Santa could have been a bit jollier, the presents were good and the children were pleased. The mulled wine and mince pies went down very well, along with squash...More

We booked for the Santa special. Whilst the staff were lovely and we were well looked after, we felt that there could have been better quality entertainment for the kids. It was a little like going in a very slow train journey, with all the...More

A fun little place to visit, though the line itself isn’t long at all - so really only an hour or so needed for a decent visit.

They had the Christmas special ride that required pre booking and was fully taken up. Hence only managed to tour the place and see first hand the steam choo choo train. Really nice and nostalgic. Nice place to bring the family
