Love Thornton Beach. It has the wildness of the west coast, yet the atmosphere of the east and the beauty of both. With wonderful picnic locations on both sides of the Rangitaiki River, we've always preferred the northern side, near the Thornton Beach Holiday Park. The northern side has changing, washing and toilet facilities. The beach at times is great... More

Went for the first time to Thornton Beach camp ground - very friendly staff, was in the overflow campsite - cheaper but still close to amenities. Lovely spot - wild beach but great to have coast guards - swim between the flags people! great estuary - collected pipis!

Had a great time at Thornton Beach holiday park even in the middle of winter! The two storied unit was very clean and good value for money at $110 a night. The beach front camp has stunning views of an island and the hosts warm and friendly. We will be back!

Under new management the park is well maintained for everyone's enjoyment and very friendly helpful staff. The cabin was clean, bed comfortable and a well equipped kitchen area. Good size shower/loo area. Close to the beach for fishing or visiting other places of interest. Good base.

Great parking right on its door step. This beach you can swim in though you must be careful as it can get quite rough. Lots of people fish there. It is more safe for kids to swim on the inlet part as it is more safe . Nice walk along it with great facilities.

Amazing views from this pristine beach. I didn't have room in my pockets for all the unique shells i found. Take insect repellent for the sand fleas.

Best cabin accommodation we have had the pleasure of renting so far in our stay in the North Island. Clean, tidy, large and best of all the cheapest we have rented. They owners have presented a fantastic stay for us. Thank you, our stay was most enjoyable. We would HIGHLY recommend this park.
