If you are visiting Mount Cook area you walk the Hooker Valley trail if you are in the area and the day is clear with good views. The walk takes you up the a Hooker Valley which is a steady climb up a well marked gravel tracks and across three well maintained and constructed suspension bridges to lake with ice... More

We started this hike on a coulda morning with the forecast of sunshine later in the day. By 11:00 the sky was clear of all clouds which was great. This is a very popular hike and there were a lot of people on it-this was quite a change from just being in Tasmania where we hardly saw anyone on our... More

Starts at ~2500' elevation but rises only about 300' in elevation. Considered an easy hike/trail, tho has numerous "downs" and then "ups" that might be a challenge for some (very young kids; older seniors, at least because of the altitude). Terrific swinging suspension bridges. Several lookouts, but the scenery is stunning (of mountains and peaks around Mt. Cook)--only "sad" part... More

This is one of the most beautiful track for hiking, which take around 3hrs to return passing 3 swing bridges across milky rivers. Massive and stunning landscape of Aoraki Mt. Cook and blue lake.

We stayed at the Alpine Lodge in the Park and were told about this 3 hour Track. It was simply spectacular.! We crossed three huge suspension bridges, had birds eye views of the many waterfalls and had the unique opportunity to see one of the Glaciers ( although sadly small because of global warming.) The tramp route is well maintained... More

This is the highest rated and most recommended hiking track in this area. It was windy and rainy, but I had a jacket, so off I went based on the reviews and recommendations.. It is a pretty even grade (not a ton of up and down), quite wide at most spots, outdoor "facilities" about half way and ALL KINDS of... More

You can see all the beautiful mountain tops during the walk and you will end at a glacier lake where you can see ice floating around and where you can see the Glacier. This is a very nice and rewarding short hike (3 hours return.) A must do!

A stunning walk that's super easy (albeit undulating in parts) and has a lot of what you'd want / expect to see on a great walk in new zealand, swing bridges, lakes, mountains, rivers, open tussock, and of course Mt Cook. The only disspointing part was seeing how many tissues dirty visitors have left along the way...we even had a... More

The hooker trail is a good 4 hour walk with 3 suspension bridges to cross on the way there and back. Not knowing what to expect we were surprised when we rounded the last curve and saw the glacier and icebergs in the lake. The whole walk was picturesque and enjoyable and I recommend it to anyone with a moderate... More

This track is suitable for all age, easy hike and the views are just magnificent. It's a 3 hrs return hike but i guess you can stop anytime you like. There is hanging bridge deep inside, very nice for photos. Watch out if you hike during the mid-day, sun burns quicker there. Make sure u bring sunscreen. Highly recommended.
