Lots of information and displays in English as well as Japanese. The best place to see the Kofun (ancient tombs) from. Also good for a night time view of the city. Free.

It's free and very informative. It's a good place to see the kofun from above as it's the highest point near them. Take the lift that bring you straight up to the observatory floor. There is a cafe there if you want to sit and enjoy the view of the city as well.

Out standing view, I suggest to go up at night and see the lights of the city. The elevator will take you direct to the top floor from ground level, don't forget to take a look at some of the displays

My (Japanese) sister-in-law insisted we visit City Hall whilst seeing them in Sakai. It seemed a strange venue until we saw the building – it’s huge: the tallest building in the immediate area. The top floor (Fl 21, free entry) has 360 deg observation windows, with great views right across to Osaka, Kobe & as far as the Akashi Straights... More

It's literally a 15 minute bike ride away from my apartment. So this morning, I thought, "what the heck, might as well head over there and enjoy the view with a nice cup of coffee". It was a pleasant morning. When I went there, there were these really friendly staff that would come up to you and explain various things... More

A must if visiting Sakai. Gives excellent views of the city and is free. Was easy to find on city map provided by the tourist office. Nice small café in observatory to have a cup of coffee and dessert.

Gives great views of Sakai and the surrounding area. You can actually see the Tumulus and how it is really shaped like a keyhole. The staff on hand are super helpful! A must when in Sakai. Best of all it's absolutely FREE!
