On a lovely sunny day we visited the bird gardens. We were all amazed by the variety of birds walking around. So friendly! They followed us for a while hoping to get some food. The doves were especially tame and sat on our shoulders or arms. Lovely flowers and plants to walk around. A very special place.

Fairly relaxing gardens with a entourage of chickens, turkeys and ducks that would follow you around. Not much of native NZ birdlife around in the trees- whether that is the time of year? The averies look a bit run down, and perhaps it is due a bit of work. Good local information about the birds themselves. Would be a good... More

A beautiful location and a very pleasant way through gardens and wetlands. The facilities for the birds themselves need work. It is a great pity.

My friend and I rented a golf cart from here and drove around the gardens. Everything about it was wonderful, from the scenery to the birds following us around wanting to get fed. The tree-house is a great spot for a nice photo opportunity. The owners were lovely too, and suggested a great little place to visit on our drive... More

Relaxing 1 walk around nice gardens with an entourage of different birds following us wanting food. The pigeons and doves got a little too friendly, so if you have a pathological fear of birds, this place may not be for you. Our 2 year old loved all the birds as well as the playground.

So so many gorgeous birds. The entrance fee is very reasonable considering the amount of birds and amazing gardens. The bird food is cheap which is nice too. Would be a perfect day out if you're on a budget with kids. Love this place!

We went on a rather wet day so very few people about. This meant that the bird were hungry and came to us for food which was a little worrying at times (for me - the kids seemed to love it). Would be nice to go back on a sunny day.

The gardens is a wonderful place, the birds are so friendly and eat food right out out your hand. There are so many amazing birds to see from Peacocks and Parrots to Chickens and Ducks its a fabulous place! The cafe is also top quality with the toasted Panini's being absolutely divine! 10/10 would recommend to anyone all ages!

My daughter loves this place so had a great visit on Wednesday this week. She loves the doves feeding from her hands and refuses to go if it is later in the day A Peahen followed her around the whole place and she loved it
