Entry was free, though there is a donation box. The museum is bigger than it appears so it's worth spending an hour browsing through its current displays. It's a very modern, clean, light filled building, with a shop full of local interesting items.

The coffee I had wasn't great. The chocolate brownie was dry and we didn't finish it. The museum itself looks interesting.

If you happen to be in Masterston this is a great little galley to check out. It's not big but friendly and easy to get around. It was better/more interesting than The Dowse in Wellington.

Aratoi is a great place to absorb the local art and culture, with friendly staff. The museum gift shop is also a fantastic place to find a unique piece for yourself or someone else.

We walked in off the street and were made to feel very welcome by the volunteer by the desk. They have an awesome little shop which has books, reasonably priced art works and hand made jewellery for sale. There are 3 galleries and we saw some superb displays, one which has been travelling NZ (Kermadecs) A really nice place to... More

A gallery that should be visited regularly. Some exhibitions may be viewed over several months, such as the history of Featherston camp, where sixty thousand soldiers were trained for the Great War. There are also short term shows, often of local artists, and occasionally featuring the permanent collections. The gallery hosts readings by well-known authors, and music recitals. This is a... More

Well worth a visit to find out about the history of the area and servicemen who had served during conflicts. Very friendly and helpful staff. Some lovely high quality hand made soldiers to buy.
