Why did we wait so long before trying this amazing outing?

My wife and I decided last Sunday to take our 4.5 yr old grandson (who is an avid Thomas the Tank Engine fan) on this outing. We had passed the restored railway site many times... read more

My wife and I decided last Sunday to take our 4.5 yr old grandson (who is an avid Thomas the Tank Engine fan) on this outing. We had passed the restored railway site many times over the past 35 years but never ventured on a journey - always saying we would wait until we have grandchildren to take. Right from... More

Thoroughly enjoyed this family outing with our young family and grandparents. Everyone enjoyed the trip. The steam train and all the different carriages are neat to see as well the beautiful scenery. Staff are amazing too. Best family day out

We included this activity in a long family reunion weekend. Everyone enjoyed it . . . teenagers and retirees alike.

Great family fun day day out. You can pack a picnic lunch or you can purchase something at the eating places at the other end. Our kids thoroughly enjoyed it and not too expensive or we had vouchers which you can find in the Tots to Teens or Family Times magazines from time to time. We saw a kids bday... More

The kids eyes light up as they hear the conductor cry "all aboard". We all become kids again on the Weka Pass Railroad. The clickety clack, great scenery and friendly crew all make for an enjoyable journey. Bring your camera!

Four of us went for the ride and it was quite enjoyable although I think people with small children will enjoy it more. The train ride is about 20 minutes, then a stop for about 45 minutes and back again. Some way into the journey the train stops for a photo shoot. The train is clean and the volunteers friendly.... In the area on vacation and came up for a trip from Christchurch. The trip was very nice and not very expensive as far as train trips go. They use round table to turn the train around at the Weka end and that was neat to see. Bring a lunch and sit and watch them turn the train around. They... More

I drove about 80 klms yesterday to go on the Weka Pass Railway and was really looking forward to it. They don't accept credit cards nor does their eftpos machine accept the savings option from an overseas card. A lot of people do not carry cash and only use a credit cards. So I didn't get to go on the... More
