Nothing special but being history, it's nice to say you were there. St Helenabay has very calm water, so during the whale season it is nice to be there and see them. Just a pass through sight.

Very interesting attraction. Unfortunately it is not being kept clean around the monument. Broken bear bottles abound.

It was nice to see the monument but also sad to see that people do not care much about such landmarks. Broken beer bottles where every where and pallet gun shots againts the monument. Just wish our monuments in South-Africa could be taking better care...More

A replica monument commemmorating Da Gama's landing in 1497. Best visited in spring flower season (late July - mid-September) when the veld bursts with myriad colours of indigenous blooms.

This is just a plain monument commemorating Vasco de Gama's arrival here. Worth turning 100 metres off the road if you are interested.

An interesting spot for a photo opportunity both for historical purposes and for the magnificent sea views. However, in flower season, this spot is not to be missed and definitely worth a stop if you are driving past.

We have so much history in our country and this particular monument should be of particular importance, but sadly it seems to be a bit neglected. There are broken glass bottles all over the surrounding ground. At least it seems to be fairly free of...More

They could do so much more with this place and history. We were disappointed as it is merely a marble cast with illegible writing carved out. Wish they'd do more it could really be a worthwhile attraction.
