As part of an archaeological tour our group went up - was there to primarily ensure my mother would make it safely. It isn't very well maintained, the grass has been allowed to grow over much of what it interesting.

The ruins sit at the top of a very steep hill! The road winds back & forth on a cobbled road and on a hot sunny day can be hard work! Strongly advise a hat and lots of water!!!! Better still go by car! But...More

It dates from 800 BC though the remains are Greek & Roman. It is a lovely site to walk round but you do need to be relatively fit as the paths are rather steep & uneven. There isn't a huge amount left in good condition....More

A very interesting activity. Ancient Thera has some hidden gems of Greek architecture with a magnificent view!! A culturally rich experience. A trip to santorini cannot be complete without a visit to ancient Thera.

We were glad we had a rental car to take up this hill. Even though we met others who walked straight up the narrow, hairpin road, we were just driving by and decided to take a quick stop. The drive up is its own experience!...More

This archaeological site is a must see. Take a van up to the site from Kamari. I actually drove it in a rental car and it was scary. The road is very narrow, the turns are sharp, and in many places there is no guard...More

We enjoyed going into Ancient Thera a lot. It's very affordable and the preservation efforts are commendable. Well worth the time and expense.

My partner and i went to ancient thera tours in kamari. For € 10 per person we were driven in a mini bus up to the ruins and collected 2 hours later. €4 entry fee each...and we feel this was money well spent. The view...More

Paid for a bus to take us up here as it is a steep climb €10 each. Very interesting place but very steep in places, when we visited the toilet was out of order and it’s a fair way from anywhere so not very good...More

The views from here are breathtaking but just a word of caution, the roads are terrible and I would recommend a trip, from the main ‘strip’ of Karari or the square there is a company taking you for 10 euros, because the roads are well...More
