Definitely worth a visit to see this ancient city ruin. Walk all through the ruins see spectacular views of the out lying islands breathe in the history of it all. Can either walk up from Kamari/ Perissa or catch a taxi from Kamari.
After a hair raising drive up the winding road to the top we arrived at the entrance to be nearly blown off our feet!!
So windy at the top be warned
Site spread out with not much left standing and we only had an hour...More
We stayed nearby at the Hotel Matina so visiting one was the closest things to do. It was a great walk via footpath to get up there initially which seemed much more interesting than walking up on the road. The bus stop is also really...More

I have visited Ancient Thera tree or four times, last time some weeks ago september -18, and every time I find something new and interesting things from past times. How those people, who lived there, can have all they needed up there, mountain is very...More
First and foremost, you’re going to get a nice work out climbing up. If you don’t want to walk up the switchbacks you can drive mostly to the top. My husband and I parked at the bottom and climbed all the way and it felt...More
