This is a must for your bucket list if you love animals and or if you want to have a feel good experience. These people look after these monkeys so well and you can see they have a passion for caring. At a mere R130 per person you have interactions with the monkeys. Staff are extremely professional and accommodating. There... More

A group of us visited the centre and had a very informative, fun and uplifting experience at Bambelela. Our guide was friendly and imparted the aims of the centre in a very knowledgable manner and could answer any question put to her. The visit to the monkey kindergarten was an unforgettable experience and thoroughly enjoyable. The carers in the kindergarten... More

We visited the center after looking for things to do around bela bela on a cloudy day. It was a truly inspiring experience and all out fun for kids. You can have a short play with the orphan baby-monkeys. The guides tell you the history of the center and the monkeys and how they put them back in the wild... More

Was lovely to see monkeys and baboons roaming freely, learnt a lot about the rehabilitation of monkeys, baboons and how the sanctuary was looking after orphan and the sick and trying to get them accepted into troops to release again into the wild. Definitely worth visiting, especially to see the babies.

Saw a small ad in the local paper and rang ahead to arrange a visit, so worth a visit, the team do an amazing job and you can even go and work there a volunteer. The monkey interaction with the nursery was worth the extra money which goes towards milk for the babies etc.

Stayed for 3 nights in a guest chalet in the grounds of the complex - extremely clean, comfortable and homely, self-catering (supplies have to be bought at either Bela-Bela or Modimolle). There is a fully-equipped kitchen and outside braai, so just stock up with supplies and bring it all in - (a very small on-site snack-shop for bare essentials will... More

You will obviously see some vervet monkeys anywhere when travelling around southern Africa, and some of them can really be scary when you leave your food unguarded, but in Bambelela you will see them from completely differrent prospective. What they are doing here is quite interesting and it is a very interesting detour if you are travelling around. They also... More
