If you want to take a brake from swimming in the sea, that's the right choice. Water is clean and warm, and what's even cooler it's not salty, so it's a nice change. You can rent a padle boat fot 10 eur/hour. There is not...More

We went to Kournas as accordingly to a local guide it was really worth a visit and I was extremely disappointed. Though I fully understand that in Crete (and Greece in general) lakes are not very common this is a major let-down if you come...More

if you're anywhere near this place - go there! You can drive, but there's a cute "road train" that picks up at Kavros, Georgioupolis and several other spots and only costs a few euros return. The lake is beautiful and tranquil but does get busy...More

What a fantastic place. You can hire pedal boat, it cost us 12 euro for four people for an hour. Great fun! We also spotted a few turtles in the water.

Just a beautiful area! Beautiful animals in the lake, and you can hire a pedal boat inexpensively and see them up close. We spotted a kingfisher which we hardly ever see in the UK! Also had a swim in the lake, but I'd recommend doing...More

Very nice and quite place, with amazing landscapes. Also for swimmers - clean and not very cold. Friendly stuff near the lake.

Very picturesque, plenty to explore on the peddle boats, swimming, sunbathing anything you fancy doing really. Good tavernas all well priced, easily accessible by the land train, bus or car. Well worth a trip.

Didn't see any separate WCs - all in tavernas, but on the basis you'll either be hiring their pedalos or frequenting the tavernas anyway, you should be fine.

Best bet is to get a bus from Chania to Georgopolis and then a cab from there, much cheaper. Not sure if the turtles are actually not tortoises, but well worth a visit anyway!
