Penang Mansion Restaurant Suffolk House is a stunning example of an Anglo-Indian garden house and Malaysia's only surviving Georgian Mansion, originally built in the early 1800s. For decades Suffolk House had a glittering career as the home of successive British Governors. The winner of the 2008 Award of Distinction in the UNESCO Asia-Pacific Heritage Awards for Culture Heritage Conservation this extensively and passionately restored mansion is now a "must visit" destination for everyone who comes to the UNESCO World Heritage Site of George Town, Penang.

Went with friends for lunch, we ordered set lunch that came with awesome tomato soup. The presentation of food is really good matches with its taste and surprisingly the price was very reasonable. Its a 5 star experience on our last visit.

We spent a very loud, busy morning round Penang - with ride on a trishaw, sightseeing in the heat, and then - bliss, a tranquil snack lunch on a peaceful terrace at Suffolk House. Such a great change after the previous morning's activities. Took one back to how it must have been in colonial times. (We were pleased to have... More

The history of Suffolk House is interesting and worth reading up on as it recalls the rise and decline of personal and island affairs alike. And if you want to have your name linked for all time to the building, sponsor a column upstairs and get a name plaque affixed to it. Hurry though, there are not many left, and... More

Visiting here solely for its historical purpose, I don't think it is worth it. However if you are doing dining and visiting here to obeserve the past history then it is a worth visit. I did lunch here with my family and to our surprise the food are flavourful that we can't stop telling ourselves how yummy it was. We... More

Thank you Leveregel for your comments and for being fair in you review. We are happy to know that you enjoyed the food and beverage offerings. Just to put on record, Suffolk House is now a Restaurant and Events Venue, not a museum so the historical side of the house is not the main feature. However, despite that there is... More

Best high tea ever! Air-conditioned room available for your comfort, perfect place to just chill + fellowship for 2.5hrs!! I love the Roibosh tea. How can one not try their mushroom chicken pie. We love everything that was served. Service was very good too, that we do not need to call for hot water. The server come in to check... More

Dear Joelle U. Thank you for the positive review. We are so sorry about the reservation being a pain. Unfortunately we are situated in a rather remote area of town and somehow being inside the woods render our telephone lines problematic. I guess that's the price we are paying for being away from the hustle and bustle and the noisy... More

The ambience in this place is good. It's a nice and cozy place where you can have dinner, a drink and chat. Parking spaces are available and should not be too worried about this. However, this location is a little secluded and is located behind the Methodist Boys' School. It is not visible from either sides of the main roads... More

We just had a photo stop front of this house, we did not enter inside. This is one of the iconic building in George Town.

Hidden secluded in front of the Methodist Boys' school..alone by itself..magnificient in view..serves fine dining... Before you could approach the entrance...there are security guards...fancy that..one had to park outside should you want to eat...even when it rains..

Dear safwanlim. Thank you for the 4 star rating. Thank you for appreciating the magnificence of Suffolk House. Unfortunately we, like most free standing restaurants in this city, have our carpark outside of the restaurant instead of inside. One point worth noting is that not only is there a carpark provided, it's also free of charge. Once again thank you... More

I get the feeling of dining in a late 19th century ambiance with fine foods that is way above my pay grade. Fortunately though, there was a company event recently and I had the privilege to sample one of the most delectably crafted meals in Penang. Now, fine dining is all about quality over quantity when it comes to portion,... More
