Haven't heard about this place before, as well never heard about his name, turns out he was the founder of OCBC bank, one of the richest man of his time. He also very close to one of Indonesia's richest man, that was trading sugar. Found this place by mistake after exploring pinang peranakan house, as the place is nearby, around 5 minutes... More

The original owner of this house was a Chinese immigrant who arrived in Penang penniless and became a millionaire, illustrating the proverbial rags to riches saga. His heirs have opened (one of) his house and turned it into a museum furnished with its original mother of pearl incrusted furniture and featuring a collection of photographs and charts detailing the history... Pay attention on the detailed explanation. Thumbs up for the attentive staff as well. If you not plan to take the full tour. You can Choose to roam... More

We found this modern display of the story of the life of Yeap Chor Ee fascinating in its historical detail and refreshing in its presentation of the contents of his home.. Highly recommended. We entered through the the main entrance, which was a bit difficult to find on a hot day. If you come through the restaurant called Sires, I... More

First of all, this attraction appear together with the Pinang Peranakan Museum and The Cheong Fatt Tze Mansion (Blue Mansion) in a brochure introducing Peranakan. However, the staff at Blue Mansion and this attraction clarified that they have nothing to do with the Peranakan culture. Nevertheless, the House is still worth a visit after you completed your visit at the... More

Suggest to listen to audio set provided & then read the panels although I found tha panels more interesting. There's also a nice restaurant at... More

Not quite what I was expecting. Like the Cheong Fatt Tze Mansion and the Penang Peranakan Museum which was configured to give one the impression of how the inhabitant lived, the House of Yeap Chor Ee was more of a collection of artefacts in a very much modern remodeled home. The premises is used primarily as a restaurant and the... More

The House of Yeap Chor Ee is an interesting little museum which tell the rags to riches story of a penniless Chinese immigrant in the early days of Penang.
