Interesting craft shop. A large shop selling Batik clothes, fans, scarves etc etc. Appears to be of good quality. Price varied perhaps a little on the high side, but then as said the quality appears good. You can also have a look in the area where they print the cloth, all by free hand. A guide explains the process, very interesting. Worth a visit. Easy to get to get the101 bus. Free admission to shop and factory. There is also a small gift shop.

Came here as part of a tour. The batik is a painstaking process and the ladies who do the hand painting work are very skilled. Opportunity to buy various items in the factory shop.

Penang Batik Factory sells good quality batik products with prices commensurate with the quality. The Coffee Shop next door is well patronised by tourists and you are invited to the many kinds of coffee and chocolate for sale., a paradise for coffee drinkers. Next door again is a specialist Tea Shop selling many kinds of tea from the traditional to herbal.

You can experience how batik was made. A bit rushed tour, The price is expensive. Not for local. I think it because of the tour.. you can find much more cheaper batik in George town..

This is my second visit in as many years but the attitude has not changed. I came with 2 of my friends from Hong Kong to see the crafting of batik cloth and do some purchases. The staff are not friendly even when we wished them "good morning" with no reply. Factory visit is a rush with the aim of quickly pushing you to buy items. We wanted to see more of the making of batik but visit was curtailed quickly. I smiled at the batik craftman but no return smile and I wonder why they are all so unhappy working there. I shall not be taking any of my friends there again as I can buy in town.

We were impressed the skill of the artists and their willingness for us to watch them at work. Our short tour (free) was informative and enjoyable. While this attraction encourages purchasing after the tour, the sales element is low key. The quality of the garments and other items is excellent and at a reasonable price.
Recommended for anyone who has not seen batik being made. The skill of the artists is excellent. Well worth the price of a GRAB car to get there.

This was one of the highlights of our excursion, which I think tells you all you need to know about it. We saw folks make the traditional batik prints - interesting to watch the artwork when one suspends the thought of the workers laboring with boiling dyes in the tropical heat. A nice gift shop is of course present - this was the second best thing we saw on our excursion, and it was mildly interesting at best. Not worth a trip on its own but not bad either.

Do I need to book in advance to do the diy batik painting? Do I have to join a tour in order to do it or can I just turn up look around and do the painting?
