    Unique Experience
Best part of Penang Hill. A great way to support the protection of the diverse ecosystems that make the hill home. My wife and I spent a few hours walking around the hill in the shade, spotting many bird and mammal species including dusky monkeys and giant squirrels. Very beautiful views, a great sky walk, and lovely butterfly garden. Even saw some vampire crabs, but you have to look very close for them. A beautiful peaceful spot to spend some time in the shade, with a lovely cafe and great gift shop selling ethically and sustainably produced souvenirs.

    Drizzling morning walk
Advice to buy the tickets online from Klook or trip.com for discounted price , if you buy directly at the ticket counter at habitat it will cost rm60 per person for adult but I use my UOB credit card so I have 10% off on spot , it was a raining morning , they do provide umbrella ☂️ per 2 adults to be shared . Take a raincoat if you want to walk up the Curtis Crest Treetop Walk as umbrella 🌂 is not allowed to . Overall a lovely walk overlooking the tropical rainforest . Place was well kept and design . At the end of the walk there’s a cafe and souvenir store , ticket include a free buggy ride down to the upper funicular ride station .

Nice way to spend 1/2 a day on Penang Island
Went on Monday at 10am no queues. The funicular was pretty packed and hard to see out of though. Up the top the Habitat is a lovely space. We were lucky enough to see 3 monkeys and lots of butterflies. For us it was a nice day but wouldn’t rush back to do again. Recommend for a 1/2 day visit if you need to get out of town.

Walking in a mist of the tropics!
A pleasant place to chill in the hot tropics, especially with a tree top walk to enjoy the canopy. And to top it off, what an enchanting hill that overlooks the city sprawl. I can even spot my hotel from that distance. Blessed by a dawn shower which dissipated just in time a for morning stroll, after a heavy breakfast, it was a family treat. The Funicular ride was smooth and the day and the hour we picked was not crowded; recommended place to nature lovers.

    The Habitat : Guided Tour
If you got a chance to visit The Habitat, please booked the add on guided tour which will make the whole experience both enriching and fun-filled! Our tour guide Danial is knowlegable on the flora, fauna and the biodiversity at The Habitat and was so patient in answering questions from the 4 kids and myself included. The best part is the tour is not timed so it is comfortable for us (4 small kids, 1 senior and 1 adult). Couldnt recommend enough!

    Worth going!
Please pay a visit to this place if you happen to visit the Penang Hill. The direction sign there may not be very clear, but head to the left if you are taking the funicular train to going up. There is an entrance fee but check out if there is any promotion going on with credit cards. I managed to get 50% off with my card though it is not displayed there. The ticket also includes Buggy ride back to the station. It is the highest viewpoint in Penang and the view is spectacular, can spot the mainland there.

    Super ziplining.
A very exciting ziplining experience plus abseiling with 3 wonderful guides who were very patience, friendly, and informative. I will definitely come for this again when in Penang and will recommend it to my family and friends. The Habitat visit is a must for all visitors. Thank you Lau, Daniel and Yew. You all made my trip memorable.

Zip line & abseiling at The Habitat, Penang Hill.
First time on the zip line and abseiling for me. I was very scared initially, but after a while, enjoyed the experience thoroughly. Our guides (Lau & Daniel) & photographer (Yew) were excellent. They made a big difference to our experience. They also briefed us on the flora & fauna of the rainforest. They are very safety conscious too, so all’s good. Thanks heaps guys. Enjoyed myself!

Forest Bathing at the Habitat, a must try.
We visited the Habitat at Penang Hill and really enjoyed the forest bathing session. It helps to awaken our 5 senses and we learned quite few things. The guide, Lau, and his assistant Choo, really help us to have the most enjoyable experience and sharing lots of insights. Highly recommend for those looking for stress relief activities in a forest.

The View was amazing but the surroundings are lack of entertainment especially the Butterfly Bank. It's not a butterfly 🦋hot-spot there is just a walk path with some decorations which is not something attraction. The directory is clear but the road signs shld point back to Butterfly Bank that it's not a location. The weather is hot and wet 😅 recommend you come with extra cloths. The Curtis Crest Tree Top Walk advice you come before 8am cz the glaze of the Sun ray is just nice to see the view of Penang City but kids might scare to walk around it so it's more suitable for alduts.

A trip to Habitat is definitely worthwhile in Penang, if you are staying in George Town. It was 41 Celsius (105 Fahrenheit) and humid when we stayed in George Town. The drive is interesting, economical with GRAB and it is a reprieve from the heat. Go early as you can handle, before funicular lines get long ( think Disneyland with humidity). Earlier in the day is also better for spotting birds & wildlife. The Habitat is a series of canopy walkways and pretty paths with very good signage to engage visitors in the many aspects of the environment around them. It’s in no way virgin rainforest. It’s clearly replanted, even landscaped in parts - but still worthwhile. Be sure to end at the Gift Shop & Cafe. Both are very nice and have been stocked with the environment in mind. There is also a shuttle to get you to the center (1.2 km) above where you arrive on the funicular.

Really enjoyed the visit which took us into the rainforest. Canopy walk & treetop walk were the highlights. The place was well maintained & the walk was pleasant & not too strenuous. Appreciated the info boards to explain what we were looking at. Didn’t see too many fauna except monkeys but saw very interesting flora. You can easily walk back to the entrance to get back to the funicular train station which we did because we just enjoyed the walk but buggy is available if you prefer not to walk back.
Well worth the visit if you are up at Penang Hill. A bit pricey but it’s well worth it especially knowing it’s helping towards a sustainable future.

This wonderful natural reserve was definitely worth visiting. My knees were creaking from a long plane flight and I nearly decided not to climb the stairs to the elevated walkway ... what a missed opportunity that would have been! The views are truly spectacular. And the rest of the habitat offers treetop walkways, viewing points and ample information about the flora and fauna.

This is a paid section of walk. In there there is a long bridge and a look out tower for views of the city. Try to walk earlier in the morning or early evenings as it can get hot.

This is a great nature walk, well explained with signs and directions.

We spent about 4 hours, walking around, taking in the sights. We saw a monkey, black giant squirrels, lots of butterflies, birds, plants, flowers,... the list goes on.

It was heartening to see many school kids with their teachers taking the tour. I'm glad that the next generation is being taught about nature, and our the environment.

Bonus : It was also a lot cooler at the Habitat, than the 'plains' below.

And the funicular train to the top and back was interesting too.

We had heard that Habitat was worth a visit on Penang Hill so we went along. The entrance fee is a little pricey but it was worth it. Easy walk through jungle, got up and close with the monkeys and had amazing views. Definitely worth it. At the end we didn’t wait for the shuttle, just walked back - more views from the road and an easy walk.

My husband and I visited Habitat at the top of Penang Hill. We were very impressed at this amazing place and would highly recommend anyone to visit. Walkways and pathways in great condition and suitable for wheelchairs and elderly. When you exit you can walk 1.2km back to train station or wait for shuttle, every 15min.

This is the highlight of Penang Hill. Although tickets are expensive, the forest trail was marked by a canopy walk which was flat and easy.

Buy your tickets at a booth just outside the funicular railway and a staff will walk you there. Alternatively buy your tickets at the entrance of the Habitat. The highlight is a 4 storey climb to a Tree Top Walk with the best highest panoramic view of Penang. You will end your visit at a cafe which was inviting but we didn't get to try the coffee as we were afraid the rain will start.

When you leave the place, wait for a buggy to bring you back to the funicular railway area. Visit the Habitat only in good weather as there aren't many shelters of it rains.
