Nature wonder long twisting cave with entrance and exit
Aug 2019
La Cuevona is a long (around 300 m.) twisting natural cave which is apparently the only path to the village Cuevas del Agua at the other side.
The cave is perhaps three or more floors high to the ceiling and a road !! goes through it to reach the village. Therefore you can cross the cave by car but you'll miss a lot; better to leave your car at the entrance parking an walk it in both directions (put attention to the cars that may be using the road).
There are some lighting inside for you to better admire the rock formations but no pre-historic paintings, different from nearby Cueva Tito Bustillos. Recommended. No fee entrance.

Worth a visit

This cave is definitely worth seeing whilst in Ribadesella. The stalactites and stalagmites are amazing and you get a great view of the mountains around the cave.

Interesting caves

The road runs through a 300 metre long cave which is stunning and free to visit. You are supposed to wear a fluorescent jacket to walk through the caves. There are a number of walks that start at the far end of the caves.

WORTH THE DRIVE
May 2018
It's a bit of a tortuous route to get up here and I wouldn't come in a busy period as it is very narrow to drive through and you have to turn around and come back as it is a 'no through road'. However, it is worth the drive because the cave is very high and quite long. It is quite sensational with stalactites hanging from the roof which is a long way up. There are some lights inside but a sunroof is useful!!

Surprisingly good

Park a little way away in the parking provided and walk through- watch out as cars drive through. Combine this with an ice cream in ribadesella and you have quite a nice outing.

Worth seeing if you have nerves of steel

Spain relatives drove us here through narrow winding mountain road with fantastic views, and even having been there before made a few wrong turns. Cave is beautiful with dramatic if minimal lighting, drove through and then walked it. It was not very crowded, was a cool rainy weekday but i would not want to visit this cave if traffic heavier, people walking share one lane road with cars, there is no place to get off the road except to hug he narrow ledge, and there is not a lot of light. As this is the only road to the mountain village on other sides of cave some drive too fast, i would be very cautious taking children through.
