We visited on a Monday during high season (summer school holidays) on a hot day and the place was surprisingly quiet. The outdoor grass area offered lots of space both in the shade and the sun and our young kids loved the warm water. The restaurant had really decent food and a huge selection (fish, fresh pasta, fresh salads, cakes, waffles, etc), which was a great surprise compared to the typical French fries, sausage and Schnitzel choices in most swimming pools. They also take the Corona safety measures (distancing, limiting the number of people in each indoor area, etc) seriously, which makes the Weser Therme also a recommended place for more risk-averse visitors.

Agree though with prior comments that some upgrading of outdated facilities would be recommended to improve this place from a good Therme to a top notch spa (again).

We have been to the kassle Thermen in the past and we were surprised by these positively.
First they look like more modern, with wood and plants decoration. Also there were cleaners all the time, so the impression was that the baths were quite clean.
Second they have salty water. We liked the idea of having pools with different temperatures and percentage of salt.
You have to pay extra for the sauna, what it is bad on one part but good on the other (less crowded).
There were different saunas with different temperatures. Even three saunas outside with views to the river.
Last but not least, there's a bus stop just outside the saunas, for those like me who come here from Kassel with public transportation.
I really enjoyed the day here.

We visited here from Goetingen, so we made a trip by train (1 hour). It was fine - clean, nice staff, etc., but oddly hot. The pools (lovely salt water) were great, but the greenhouse effect was both stifling and blinding. Perhaps that was the idea? A great place for adults wanting to relax, but not very exciting for families.

Having never been to a German spa town we were keen to visit Weser Therme during our 2 night stay in Bad Karlschafen. Even knowing the sauna section would be clothing free, we purchased a ticket for the whole complex - ‘when in Germany…’. We spent a good couple of hours in the main pool section and loved it, particularly the outside whirlpool. After a quick lunch we got the courage to enter the Saunaworld. You enter, find a free peg on the wall and hang your bathers. 30 seconds after entering, you realise everybody else is naked and nobody is really interested in who you are, what you look like, or what you’re doing. There is a nice pool in the middle of the complex with tunnel access to the outside. It felt very liberating (& natural) to be swimming naked, and at one point my wife commented on a surreal feeling being the only woman in a pool with six other naked men. On that note, I’d say there were plenty of couples in the sauna area, and overall about 60:40 men to women. We explored most of the saunas, including the ones outside and even sunbathed nude on the sun lounges - not something we’d be doing in Australia. Some time back in the main pools and then time to finish - the most enjoyable 5 hours! The next trip to Germany/Austria will definitely include a trip to a therme.

Things to note - observations for newbies:
change/locker rooms are shared, but change cubicles provide privacy
ask somebody if you’re not sure of the protocols around shower/sauna/etc.
you must sit on a towel in the sauna - no skin on the timber
don’t wear anything in the sauna area, but a lot of people walk around wrapped in towels
make sure you have a water bottle with you in the sauna area - drinking water is not readily available

Things I think could be better:
for non-German speakers beware - the reception staff had limited English, and there are no instructions in English. The experience for us could have been so much better had we been able to understand about things such as the daily sauna program.
Make drinking water available in the sauna area

great location next to Weser river. Extended menu in the therme restaurant. Huge garden. Very well maintained. Lovely salt water baths, also a really hot bath. Many different saunas.
