Ashford Outdoors designs and leads active and cultural experiences in the most spectacular of settings with panoramic views of lake, forest and Mountain. We specialise in outdoor activities that range from archery and mountain biking to horse drawn carriage rides and many other things besides. We have something to suit everyone. Ashford Outdoors has been offering activity and equestrian experiences in the West of Ireland for over 25 years. Our facilities include an archery range, Ireland's tallest tree climb as well as a large indoor arena. We are open to the general public and offer outdoor adventure and equestrian activities to holiday makers and groups 7 days a week. We provide corporate team building and bonding days as well as catering for youths and sports teams. We can also accommodate Hen and Stag parties and we offer bespoke activity packages for relaxation before or on the morning of your wedding day or special occasion! Our activities include archery, clay pigeon shooting, biking and mountain biking, tree climbing and abseiling, kayaking and guided archaeological and ecological tours. Our location is on the Ashford Castle Estate, next to the island village of Cong on the Galway/Mayo border in Western Ireland. Nestled between the great lakes of Lough Corrib and Lough Mask, Cong is the natural gateway to Connemara. We are only 45 minutes drive north of Galway city and a 45 minute drive south of Westport, Co. Mayo. Ireland West Airport Knock is less than an hour's drive away.

This center is a bit of a walk or drive from the main castle of Ashford and there's a gate for accessibility. Near the town of Cong. I did not ride, but it was a joy to be at the center and watch others ride on beautiful horses. I also saw several people mounted and riding near the castle as... More

Simply amazing and wonderful! The experience you receive with the great people working with you! We had great guide in both zip lining and hourse back riding through the woods seeing Guinness tower that was built in the early 1800's

So far as a family, we have enjoyed horse riding through the grounds of Ashford Castle, tree climbing and zip-lining. We have throughly enjoyed each activity and would highly recommend. The staff are so friendly and have a lot of patience. When zip-lining, one of our children was afraid of heights, the instructor spent some time with him until he... More

My wife went on two trail hacks during our two day stay at Ashford Castle, and her rides were the highlight of our 9 day trip in Ireland. She is an experienced rider, and they matched a great horse (Rosie) for her perfectly. After carefully evaluating her riding ability, they took her on a 2-hour ride through beautiful forests and... We took a group of 15 work colleagues to the Outdoor Activity Centre based in the Equestrian Centre as part of a company day out/team bonding exercise. David O'Loughlin was a pleasure to deal with, professional, friendly and very very good at his job. He and Mark made the day interesting and fun and really got the communication going between... Stayed in Ashford Castle with work and decided to book in for a ride for some down time. The stables are a short walk from the castle - hats and boots provided if you don't bring your own. On arrival you are asked to fill in a form with previous experience and then assessed for a horse. I was given... More

Fiona was a terrific riding companion when we went for a ride through the castle grounds on Irish Cobb, Guinness and Irish draught Bramble. It was drizzling slightly but it really didn't detract from the ride and the horses certainly didn't mind. All done at the walk for my novice husband, the horses were completely dependable, having the odd sneaky... More

If you know how to ride a horse do not tell the women here. Especially if you are male. You will get an old horse as I did and they will lie to you about it as they did to me. The guide told my sister i was given an old steady horse deliberately. I will return to Ashford castle... More

I was part of a motorcycle excursion through the South and Southwest areas of Ireland and our last overnight venture was Ashford Castle. I was in the mood for a different kind of "horsepower" and I am a fairly experienced rider. I booked an afternoon ride on arrival and loved the experience so I immediately booked a morning ride for... More
