Take a look around you - the walls are steeped in history, dreams and the future. You are at Volandia, where a wonderful exhibition itinerary takes you deep into the history of international aeronautics, with focus on the companies that have written the story of the province of Varese, the province with wings, and all of Lombardy and Italian industry. The exhibition is divided into five areas: forms of flight, fixed wing, rotary wing, model aircraft and the convertiplane. It tells the great history of flight in all its forms, from pioneer flights in hot-air balloons to the first aircraft in the early 1900s right through to the convertiplane, the perfect fusion of vertical and horizontal flight. The Park and Museum of Flight has plenty of indoor and outdoor areas for children, with space dedicated to the different age brackets. For older visitors there is the simulation area, library, historical archives (consultable online), convention room and film showings. The Volandia Store stocks a wealth of park and museum gifts and mascots and many other wonderful articles. As you walk around the park and museum you can listen to exciting adventures involving the aircraft on show told by volunteers of the “Friends of Volandia” association, whose members include fanatics and former workers at the aircraft companies. If you would like to join the association, just ask.. Members are easy to recognise in their red uniform. The Flight Café is the perfect place to take a break and have something to eat and drink.Volandia makes flight dreams and fun happen.Visit our website to discover our pavillon and the newly SPACE AREA.

We have visited the park on a very rainy day, thus, having got a place to hide from the rain............and to our surprise we got the chance to visit one of the best flight museums in the world, absolutely great place, very comprehensive collection of airplanes, from the very early models till the modern and futuristic ones. We enjoyed especially... More

This is the site of the first ever flight of a powered aircraft by the Italian aviator, Caprioni. The Caprioni CA1 is preserved here along with the original hanger building. Later this became the site for the Caprioni aircraft factory which built aircraft during WW1 -WW2. There are many different aircraft on display here, including some flight simulators which you... A brilliant museum and interactive experience. Try the simulators and the space expo. We loved the drone flying. Not all the explanations are available in Italian but it is very self explanatory.

We had a bit of time to kill before we could check into our apartment. There is a lot here and you could spend hours and hours.... The kids loved the train set right inside. There were planes, space and more. The cafe was not very good.

It was interesting and we were surprised because we didn't expect to find so much information and it was well organized also.

Volandia is located just 10-15 minutes’ walk from Milan's Malpensa Airport Terminal 2. By road it is signposted on approach to Terminal 2 by brown museum signs. It located in some historically significant buildings originally used by the Caproni and Vizzola aircraft firms for construction. The entrance has a snack bar and extensive shop at either end. The ticket office... More

Fantastic couple of hours spent here, great for all ages and they serve beer! The soundtrack throughout the hangers creates an epic feeling as you wander through the truly great achievements made from mans desire to fly. We did get lost in Case Nuove as they are building a train link from terminal 1 to 2 at malpensa and the... More

Very close to Malpensa airport, this museum has a very large collection of planes and helicopters. Very didactic for kids and adult. The entire family, from kids to grandparents, enjoyed a beautiful experience ranging from flight simulator to massive real helicopters. Lots to learn and discover. I would definitely recommend.

Nice idea to have a museum of aviation on the airport. Recommended for aviation history to check it. Just out side the check in area.
