What an amazing old bridge! Built in the mid 1800's by Marc Seguin, this suspension bridge is one of the oldest still in use. If you have the chance, you should walk the full distance from Tournon to Tain-l'Hermatige and appreciate the views of the...More

This bridge across the Rhône connecting the towns of Tain L'Hermitage (east bank) and Tournon-sur-Rhône (west) was constructed by Marc Seguin in 1849 who developed the concept of cable supported bridges. It features a stone built tower in the centre of the river supporting the...More

This is an interesting bridge demonstrating the suspension bridge. Supposedly this is the second one, because the first one collapsed. But this one is very nice. Nice walk across it and beautiful of the hillsides around Tournon. There is a statue of Marc Seguin near...More

After dining on the river boat we decided to cross the bridge to L'Hermitage to get wine and chocolate. The walk was pleasant, the town was compact and had a good selection of wine and chocolate shops to keep my wife happy.

Really worth walking over the bridge not only to marvel at the structure but to take in the view either side of the Rhone!!

Ok it's a little more than just a bridge, I think it's one of the earlier suspension bridges over the Rhone, it joins both banks of the river, it provides some nice photography opportunities and it's something to do in the town of Tournon. If...More

This is a handsome pedestrian bridge across the Rhône connecting the towns of Tain L'Hermitage (east bank) and Tournon-sur-Rhône (west). It's a pleasant stroll, but don't look down as there are gaps between the wooden boards of the footway. Bear in mind, too, that bikes...More

This isn’t Seguin’s original suspension bridge, but it’s a fit commemoration of an important achievement in the history of civil engineering. Not incidentally, it’s pleasing to the eye as well as functional. I’m glad I got to see Passerelle Marc Seguin. I’ll remember the occasion...More

This bridge is great to use as there are no vehicles to worry about. Just stroll and admire the views as you cross.

This is not the original first Marc Seguin's bridge (first suspension bridge using cables, and not chains), destroyed in 1965. But it's one of the oldest, buit in 1848.
