1) Location :
~ After roaming around searching high and low in Kampong Cherating Lama for this highly recommended batik painting workshop... we finally spotted its Limbong signage hidden behind the Tie Dye t-shirts ✌✌
~ Didn't get the exact address - but it is parallel to Hafiz's Cherating activities (fireflies watching etc), only to be parted by a cross road.

2) Operating hours : 10am-10pm

3) Duration of the batik painting :
~ We finished ours in 2 1/2 hours - reached 4:30pm and done by 7pm, collected our batik painting the next day.

4) Fee :
~ RM30/batik painting experience
~ They sell tie dye clothes as well, very cool designs.

5) 1st impression :
~ We were greeted by the daughter and she went on to show us some drawings and arrange for my 4 y/o a white cloth to trace the drawing as per our liking for batik painting, or we can draw any designs as we want.

~ Later on, the softspoken mother came to us when we were ready with our desired designs. She taught us patiently how to handle the handheld wax pipe/dispenser and when the wax is hot enough, she worked with my 4 y/o on her design with lots of encouragement.

6) Environment :
~ Simple setup outside of their shop/house/studio, with lots of violent mosquitoes But we survived the attack.

In conclusion :
~ We will definitely recommend this place and come again next time.

Wonderful people with patients. It was fun, cheap and everyone can do it. It took me a whole day but I had to start over again because I spilled wax all over the painting. They just gave me a new canvas and encouraged me to do it again and better this time and I did!

I really loved the day trying my hands on batik. It was such a peaceful and inspiring day with a really nice result at the end of the day. The lovely owner teaches you as much as you want depending on your wish. There is no rush and no pressure and you can take as much time as you need. Plus: It is really good value for money. Don't miss this truly Malaysian experience. You won't regret it :-)

Went there today 2/6/17 with my wife and 2 children in the morning hoping for them to learn and paint a batik, shop was not open till 12pm (we had to come back again) and was disappointed when I was told they no longer doing batik painting classes. But luckily there is one just next door Salmiah Batik that offer the class and few more shop around the area. Currently Limbong Batik only sells batik.

Good place to spend with kids and family. From simple batik technic to different types can be done here. Have been there for 3rd time. Will come again for different technic. My kids age 6 and 4 love spending time drawing and painting batik. Flora is the easiest to do and gives the most desirable result. Will recommend this place for couple and family with children. Will definitely come again for t-shirt die. It is also a place to paint n relax. Find Umi very helpful. Limbong Art School is s place to come when you are in Cherating.

Learning to make your own batic is a pleasant, no frills, activity. You get great help from Umi in getting through your first steps, and before you know it you're making your own T-shirt of sarong.
Take some time to do it (depending on the size between 3 and 6 hrs), I would advice to use the hottest hours of the day...

I spent a few hours one afternoon learning how to make batik. I'm not artistic at all, so was a bit worried. I shouldn't have been--the owner is quite knowledgable and patient!

There are three different sizes you can make and they guide you through the steps. I had such fun I'm considering returning to take her batik course!
