The Keith and Dufftown railway is one of the most Northerly preserved railways in the country, and one of the longest and most scenic. With over 10 miles of line your journey takes you from Dufftown station, past the Glenfiddich distillery and over the famous Glenfidich viaduct. You then travel up the long climb called parkmore hill which is surrounded by spectacular scenery up into the mountains, At the top you pass along the banks of Loch Park, a mile long resevoir only properly viewed from the railway with its spectacular wildlife. Then past Drummuir castle and on to Drummuir station, And that's only half way....

Thank you for your review, we are pleased you had a good day and liked what we did, it really is a difficult event to stage but we'll worth it, we also raised £354 for help for Heroes thanks to our visitors generosity.

I'm sorry about the lack of displays at Keith, Im sure you'd agree the 40's shop display was excellent. We planned a 'Dig for victory display and the Spitfire tapestry to be on show, they always go down well, but they were turned away,. Sorry...More

Though the Keith and Dufftown railway is not the most scenic of heritage railways the experience is so reminiscent of the railways of my youth in the 50s and 60s that for those of us of a certain age this is a super way to...More

The mere fact that this line is run by volunteers requires 5 stars but I felt that was biased! It's a really old train needing TLC but they continue to revamp this and rely on people using the train. The ride is rickety but I...More

A heritage railway which provides a great journey through some stunning scenery. The staff are very helpful and friendly and the cafe at Dufftown provides a great place for a 'pit stop'. Highly recommended.

Dear Ken, Sorry about the journey from Dufftown town to the railway station, Unfortunately when the station was built 150 years ago, they obviously thought as it was built to service the distilleries, hence 'the Whisky line', and that she station and loading yard should be near the distilleries and not in the town. Most things we strive to improve for the benefit of our passengers, but moving the track and the station nearer the town would be beyond even our volunteers ability. Regards, Nigel Bodiam, Director, Keith and Dufftown Railway
