You can hold an actual sabre toothed tiger skull. Very interesting and little known attraction in a very picturesque spot en route to the Pulo.

Although Altamura Man is not physically here (he's still embedded in a layer of calcite underground!) there is a very informative 15-minute 3D film of his fossilized remains, as well as enthusiastic visitor centre guides, to tell you all about him. A worthwhile and unusual...More

I was also hoping to see the dinosaur footprints and the prehistoric man but they are not in this museum, despite the misleading dinosaur decorations at the front entrance. Entrance is free, and we were shown a video about the discovery of the prehistoric man...More

25 July, both main attractions, Altamura men and dinosaurs exibit are closed due renovation until Oct 15. Website was probably last time updated by the man himself. Rest of exhibition is small, compared with Taranto Museo Nazionale Archeologico 50 km away.

good to visit becouse can see old history of this beautiful city of Altamura,you can take a guided tour and see the remains of a prehistoric man found in a cave

Not far from historical centre is this small but we'll presented museum. Free admission but very interesting. This is not where altamura man is located but still worth a visit and information can be obtained ed about altamura man.
