As for many churches in Sicily, this has elements of Norman architecture although the majority is a later baroque. The inside is particularly ornate and busy. The square behind is beautiful and peaciful.

The plaza setting is magnificent, real mixture of cultures here in the buildings, best to get a guide or read up from the many books available.

I enjoyed visiting the duomo very much, as well as spending time relaxing in the lovely piazza outside the duomo. After your visit, why not take a few minutes and visit the extremely interesting small ornithology museum also on the piazza across from the duomo?

Not the most interesting church in Mazara del Vallo, but worth a visit. The piazza adjoinging the church in very pleasand, and the town itself is well worth a half day visit. The mayor has mounted a major effort to make the town tourist-friendly, There are a number of churches worth a look, and almost every corner has contemporary tiles... More

We visited here to check out where some friends had had their wedding. It is a beautiful church with fabulous frescoes. I was interested in some of the excavations they had around the cathedral and which are able to be viewed.

This was one of the highlights of the trip and like many of the churches we visited is a blend of architecture and art blended like nothing that we see in the US. The people in the area are happy warm and helpful.

Beautiful on the outside, but you have to go inside. The fresco's are breathtaking. the acoustics are amazing. One person at the back or the duomo can whisper to somebody standing at the altar.
