Fantastic place to visit, it’s a must if you are around Giarre
Aug 2021 • Family
In the last days, I managed to organise a trip to this fantastic place for 2 families with 4 young children. It really exceeded my expectations. Truly, at first, I was looking for something where all the family, especially the young ones can experience the natural environment of the country while participating actively in hands-on experience. And this, was BRILLIANT for what I needed.

First we were given a warm welcome by the very out-going hosts. Then, we started with the children brushing ‘Bella’ the donkey, followed by a nice ride on the donkey. In the mean time, Maria Costanza; one of our hosts was explaining to us and also to the kids about the donkeys.

We also tasted the freshly milked milk from the donkey milk together with homemade cakes. Afterwards, we were given an amazing and breath-taking tour where we could see sheep, ducks, chicken, geese and horses.

It all ended with milking the donkeys. Here, Guglielmo explained to us all about the milking process and for what they use the fresh milk.

The visit came to an end with a big thank you to Maria Costanza and also with another ride on the donkey for the kids.

Besides all these first-hand and hands on activities, there are tables outside with chairs where you can sit quietly, games for the little ones and much more.

Suitable for families, groups and friends.

If you’ll be in Giarre it’s a must to visit Asilat.

Highly recommended.

I was there long time ago and my kids, very young at the time, just loved it!
We also bought few products done there.
The owner was very welcoming and helpful

Very Disappointed
Aug 2017 • Family
We passed by this place and it was closed so after checking up on Trip Adviser we e-mailed asking to visit but failing to get a reply, decided to go on Sunday morning (when it is supposed to be open). We were very disappointed to find the gates shut and nobody around. There were a few donkeys and goats we could see but no other signs of life. Why have all the road signage and a website if it is not kept up to date?

A great experience

I had the opportunity to organise a visit at Asilat for a group of Maltese farmers and artisans as part of an educational trip. It was indeed worth it and I highly recommend it. They have suitable packages doe families, groups and individual travelers. We opted for the Sicilian brunch which consisted in several cold dishes, cheeses, salami and of course milk. Ketty is a dynamic women who created a diversified farm out of nothing. Don't forget to buy some soaps and cosmetics made from donkey milk before leaving!
