A dedicated cycling and walking route along an old railway line. Great views over the seas and inland to the mountains. Benicassim, Orpessa and Marina d'Or all offer the opportunity for refreshment.

Benicassim is well supplied with great cycle routes and this one is no exception. 5.5km in length. Flat, good surface. Can be busy use your bell if you are cycling. Take water.

Meant to do this last time we visited the area a few years ago, so made sure we walked from Benicassim to Oropesa along the Via Verde this time round - and worth the wait. A gentle stroll with interesting scenery along the way. Some of the cyclists can be a little careless as they treat it as a race... More

This is a quiet way to spend a few hours, just don't go with teenagers ("this is boring", "can we go now?", "I'm hot", etc). It is very tranquil, but be warned there is very little shade along the route so try to avoid the hottest part of the day. We started the trail near Club Nautico De Orepesa del... More

Lovely route to Oropesa. After 6 km ended up on the beach front. Excellent restaurant and nice shallow beach. Swam in October and enjoyed the sun.

Walk or Ride along the old railroad tracks along the Cost. Great views, tunnels to give shade on a hot day. And safe to walk at night.

I cycled this in the middle of the day and it was very hot, better to do it in the early morning or evening I would say. Great views out across the Med. :)

Stunning & family friendly cycle route to Oropesa from Benicassim. Good cycle routes through Benicassim lead to the route itself. It's only 5km but bear in mind maybe another few kms getting g across town & similarly when you get to Oropesa. Scenic, next to the sea, old towers to explore and a long tunnel at the end. Ujibike in... More

Lovely way to spend the day, although Orapesa not got a lot going for it other than the stretch of clean sany beach. Fantastic that this old railway track has been converted into a very tranquil and easy walk or cycle route.

Cycling the via verde route is so worth it! It's not an onerous ride and people of all ages could cope as its flat most of the way. We hired bikes from Bonterra Park where we were staying and the route started right behind the camp site. Very cheap price too, cost us €6.50 each for a half day hire.... More
