It was built by JayajiRao Scindia in 1874. It's a combination of 3 styles Tuscan,Italian-Doric and the Corinthian. The Maharajas have built a phenomenal collection over the century. Armoury, period furniture and artefacts are on display but the pièce de résistance is a model railway with a silver train that carried after-dinner brandy and cigars around the table. A must... Certainly not to be missed.. splendour of the building n the luxury enjoyed by its royal inhabitants will leave you spell bound.since it's not maintained by the government but by the royalty of Gwalior, Its pretty well maintained. Keep at least 2hrs up ur sleeves to enjoy it thoroughly. extra payment for cameras. Open all days.

This museum is a part of the Jai Vilas Palace. Portrays the history of the Scindia rulers only. The collection is pretty good although they could have done a much better ob displaying it. Worth a visit if you have the time.
