KOHIMA WAR CEMETERY lies on the battle ground of Garrison Hill. No trace remains of the bungalow, which was destroyed in the fighting, but white concrete lines mark and preserve permanently the historic tennis court.

The cemetery now contains 1,420 Commonwealth burials of the Second World War.

At the highest point in the cemetery stands the KOHIMA CREMATION MEMORIAL commemorating 917 Hindu and Sikh soldiers whose remains were cremated in accordance with their faith.

Commemorates brave soldiers and Naga warriors that halted Japanese advance in Kohima. Well maintained gardens, walking pathways, exhibits and photo description. Great view of the busy city from the site. A great place to spend an hour or so. Excellent.

I visited this cemetery couple of times. It is one of the most visit place while you are in Kohima, Nagland. The entrance is free and you would need 2-3 hours time to visit it. You could see beautiful view of Kohima Bazzar and other green hills from this place. You may like to visit WW II Museum which is... More
