Peaceful and stunning walks

Lovely walks for all abilities. Plenty of places to stop and admire the views. Nice little tunnel on one side of the lake and waterfalls.

Excellent walking and photography location if the weather is a little poor and rainy. Good pathways around the lake or a two to three hour hike. Fortunately there is a tea house and a pub to give suitable reward at the end.

Fantastic place to visit for all ages. Great walk and stunning views. Ideal for children. We popped to one of the pubs afterwards for afternoon tea. Well worth a visit. Upon driving to Buttermere the views are out of this world!

Buttermere , wonderful walks , and views, usual car parking fees etc. Some good food and drink place to eat by main car park, however a busy spot.

Walked around Buttermere yesterday and it's just beautiful. Luckily for us it stayed dry and the February sun shone. It's about a 2 and a half to 3 hour leisurely walk around. We parked at the fish pub where there are loos but take 20p if you can or you won't be able to use them!

I first visited Buttermere during Easter 1964. Like all the lakes, it is beautiful, and together with Crummock Water and Loweswater, has a fairly flat even walk around it. Approach from the Honister Pass, to add even more awe to your day.

Well signposted and defined walkway around the lake. It offers splendid views in all directions and is just so peaceful. Can be done in all weathers. There are plenty of areas for impromptu picnics as well as rocks and seats around the lake for you to rest and soak up the views. Just a splendid day out. Depending on walking... More

Buttermere is a lovely little village and at its centre is the lake. We walked all around the lake, which is quite flat and easy for most people. You get great views across the lake wherever you are. We did plan on climbing the crags in the area as well to be nearer the waterfalls but bad weather in the... More

Visited here one cold but mainly dry Saturday in February. We did the walk all around Buttermere. It's such a tranquil place and quite a flat walk if you're not into hilly walks! Half way around we visited a pub and had a lovely lunch and a pint! Would recommend it and will be back in summer!
