You drive 20-30 minutes in a dirt road to get to the top. Then you descend for about 30 minutes through the mountain in sort of man made rock steps. There is a smaller 10-15 meter waterfall and then you see the big one. The river is nice and you can even swim in the lake if you can take... More

I took a taxi ro get there since my time was short. It takes about 40 min to drive in a beautiful landscape. The walk down to the river took me 20 minutes. You will fin there two waterfalls. For the more beautiful one, you have to go 5 minutes stream upwards. I took there also a bath in the... More

We booked a tour to Salto del Nogal with Colores Tapalpa. (http://www.colorestapalpa.mx) Our tour guide, Pascal, was informative, environmentally aware and safety conscious. The hike downhill is very challenging due to the heat, loose rocks and the grade of the incline. To get to the site, as many have noted, requires a vehicle ride on a non-asphalt road. Once you... The journey takes 45-60 minutes on a bumpy road, so you need an appropriate vehicle, but there are beautiful views along the way. Lots of horses and cows on the roadside. Once you get there, you need to hike down to the falls, which can take 30-45 mins, on a rocky path, so wear appropriate hiking shoes and clothing. When... More

OK so we left a little later in the day than we should have, but we have a minivan, so it took us a an hour on cobblestone and dirt to make it to the parking area. This is an area you get to just before the parking area at the bottom which looks like a good parking area too,... More

We took a taxi for 400 pesos each way to get to the trailhead for this waterfall, then it's a hike of a kilometer or so to get to the waterfall. Just a little way down the trail there's a fork where the right-hand trail goes to a spectacular mirador or overlook. The canyon is dramatic and the view is... More

This waterfall is a little out of the way and you have to ask around to get to it because you have to go through back country dirt roads to get to the "parking" area- or the dead end to the dirt road- once there there are usually a lot of cars so it seems safe to park there and... More
