Nicopolis is an ancient city that was built on 31 B.C by Octavios after the batle of Aktio. If you translate it from Greek to English Nicopolis, means the city of victory. It is placed just outside the town of Preveza. It is great for someone that is interested in ancient history to visit that place. Also the museum that they recently built near the ancient city of Nicopolis is one of the most moderate and intresting musuems in Greece.

Extremely interesting roman walls. Nice small museum. A nice basilica church. Very close to Preveza city. Enjoy walking around and do visit August's monument.

Greece has difficulties to maintain all the wonderful places. This place is concerned by the situation, low maintenance of the ruins. But anyway, a place to visit.

The museum itself is small, but it has a nice collection. If you can get out to the excavation site, that is really neat as well. There is a large collection of mosaics from Nicopolis. The site has basilicas with preserved mosaics and an old...More

Visited as part of the visit to Nicopolis ; small museum, well set out and air conditioning so it's an ideal place to visit when very hot. Shows a good selection of artifacts and gives good historical facts about the area and it's long history

Surprisingly good and informative little museum. Well organized and with a good narrative about the ancient city. Small and manageable. 8 euro for the museum and the archeological sites. Museum takes about 30 minutes

Is there an admission fee? If there is, how much is it in USD?

not sure how much in USD- but we paid 2 euros.
I have two questions. First, are there English translations at the Preveza site? Can one easily self-tour at the site and museum? Second: Are there any reasonably priced guide-services available at the site for more in-depth information.

The opening times ar rather unpredictable. There dont seem to be any guides either- it's all very low budget in those terms. I went there and discovered it was closed so I jumped over the fence, which the local kids all do... More
