Good views or surrounding mountains and valley, some walking trails, resaurant and souvernir shop. It's a bit out of the way if you're visiting Aso, but it's a nice stop if you're passing by.

I traveled all over the world but I have never seen such a place! It's like a breathtakingly inspirational scenery like a movie scene. It is not amusing to be registered as a world heritage (or candidate?). You can see that travelers all over the...More

Aim to go there during sunset . The view of the mountains against the changing light colours made good photo shots. With mt aso closed, this may well be the nearest you can get to it. Drive up is rather windy but the view is...More

Absolutely impressive views over the entire Aso area, including the active volcano. The drive up the mountain is a joy in itself, as the mountains are very steep and surprisingly covered in forest.

If you have a clear day this is a spectacular view to see the caldera. No picture can ever capture the magnitude of this sight.

You can take this tour bus at JR Aso station. There are two operations in a day until January 31,2017, at 10:15 and 14:00. After the earthquake JR trains between Kumamoto station and Higoozu station are closed, so take a bus named Yamabikogo which is...More

Hi, Where will you be coming from? If you are coming from Kumamoto then most people will go into the Caldera area along the major roads which are mostly flat with slight inclines. The only part that is curvy and slightly... More
