We get there in car from the old town in Shangri La. The temple is small, but very nice and pleasant. It is still a true worshipping place, different from the crowded main monuments. The environment is peaceful and inspiring. You have to climb a long stair so maybe it is not recommended for old people.

It took us nearly four hours walking from old Zhongdian, but the walk is well worth it. We had a guide - would be tricky to find the right path yourself (though with coordinates in a GPS you could probably manage it). Passing through lovely open and unspoilt countryside, up and down foothills and serenaded by cuckoos. The only person... More
