The bus tour takes you to two lakes, a meadow, and a few other spots. You can only wander on the designated walk areas. Views not spectacular, entrance costs 269 RMB, go only if you have spare time.

This park is located in a mountainous area. The scenery is wonderful. Access is limited to shuttle buses. A boardwalk along a lake allows for a little walking. Otherwise its short photo stops. A boat does run on one lake. Our guide said that hiker access was tightly controlled. Most of the tourists were Chinese. Local herders continue to use... More

My stay in Shangri-la was short. I was therefore struggling to determine whether to spend a day at Potatso National Park or Baishui Terrance. I personally preferred the latter but a hotel staff in Lijiang told me that the best time to visit Baishu Terrance is during the rainy season. He recommended me to visit Potatso National Park instead. I... More

Potatso National Park is beautiful, especially under the snow. As a Canadian we have much to compare but this is a fine example of natural beauty I should have come later, ie in June to see the flora and would recommend not to come before that time if interested in spring flowers and an awakening in nature

We saw lots of horses running around crossing our bus path, yaks roaming in the pasture and squirrels asking for food from the tourist. It was snowing lightly as we ventured through the scenic place. The bus will take us to each destination or stops and let us off for us to take photos. For those who would like to... More

Although we very much enjoyed the park as a whole, especially the two lakes inside, admission fees are exorbitant and the park could sometimes be swarmed with Chinese tourists, so be warned

Take advantage of the tourist buses which will drop you off at various interesting points, unless you want a very long trek indeed Walks are along board walks and the whole park has a very managed look to it. No birds, apart from a solitary wagtail; lots of Chinese tourists taking selfies. This was a pleasant morning but if we... More

This is essentially an area of virgin Tibetan plateau country, with beautiful lakes and wetlands. The 'Disney' atmosphere is due to the fact that it is incredibly popular (99.9% Chinese) and the whole visit is managed. You get on a bus which whisks you through the park and up to the first lake, where you get off and all troop... More
