Overview
More
The charm of Fyvie ranges from its 13th-century origins to its stunning Edwardian interiors. The castle is home to a superb collection of arms, armour and paintings, including works by Raeburn and Gainsborough. Stroll around the picturesque loch, or visit the restored 1903 racquet court and bowling alley. Ghosts, legends and folklore are all woven into the tapestry of Fyvie Castle's 800-year history. Tradition claims that the castle's five successive families - Preston, Meldrum, Seton, Gordon and Forbes-Leith - each added a tower to this magnificent Scottish Baronial fortress. You can see their influences today among the medieval stones and the lavish Edwardian interiors, and imagine what castle life must have been like for the families and their royal guests - among them Robert the Bruce, Edward I and Charles I.

Fantastic castle in a great setting. Good paths and well sign posted paths around the loch. Fascinating history. Stained glass window at Fyvie church is fantastic.

Had a lovely day out at the castle yesterday. Andrew, the guide, deserves a special mention. His level of knowledge was amazing. You don't need Google when he is your guide! He was engaging, had a good sense of humour as well as being able...More

We enjoyed the tour inside the castle especially when you have a tourguide with some laughter. This pink castle is still preserved and maintained by the NTS and I'm glad it is still in pristine order. Behind the castle there's the entrance for a little...More

Visited to walk in the grounds. Car park charges £3 for the day which I thought was quite excessive! To visit inside the castle costs £12.50 per person! Probably best to pay and join the national trust and get the cheaper rates!

The guided tour of this castle is excellent and worthwhile. There are lots of exhibits of armoury and weapons as well as paintings by Raeburn and Gainsborough.

Visited here as members of nts. A self guided tour supported by guides in most of the rooms. There is a huge abundance of art if you are particularly interested. I found the music room most interesting as it is beautiful. Overall not as interesting...More

Five is one of the lovely pink castles of Scotland. We stopped in for a very brief look while waiting for a tour at a nearby distillery, so we didn't have time for a tour. They did let us in to see a carving above...More
