I was super disappointed. The habitats for the animales were below par. It really looks like they repair things on the cheap. I can’t believe that they don’t find ways to make the experience and the animals dwellings better. The park is very very small and unkept. To pet the baby tiger you have to pay extra and imagine that poor animal with lines of expectant wanting to pet it. I was so sad I never want to go again. No one should endorse this type of behavior and allow this to continue.

Walking into the zoo, it was immediately clear this wasn't the safe haven for animals we'd expected. We were greeted by a sight that set the tone for the day: a cub, chained to a wall, swarmed by kids who were far from gentle. And that was just the start. The enclosures were cramped and looked neglected, a far cry from the natural habitats these animals deserve.
Witnessing a tiger being dragged by its tail by a staff member, just to entertain visitors, was unsettling. It's a stark reminder that this place operates more like a business focused on visitor interactions than a sanctuary prioritizing animal welfare.
The fact that new cubs and baby animals are constantly being introduced raises a big red flag. It suggests a breeding program that doesn't align with the sanctuary's supposed mission. Given the limited space, it's hard not to wonder about the fate of these animals once they're no longer small and cute.
Seeing a nocturnal owl tethered in the sunlight, with no escape from the heat, was disheartening. It's clear evidence of the disregard for the animals' well-being and natural behaviors.
It's evident this zoo falls short of being a true sanctuary. Those who truly care about animal welfare might want to think twice before visiting or supporting this place.

I found that the animals were all wonderfully cared for! The worker there all made sure that people didn't disturb the animals in any way, and the animals all seamed to have room to roam as in a regular zoo. It's a once in a life time experience to see and touch so many amazing animals up close1

Do not let the pathway to the entrance put you off of this wonderful zoo! This was one of the best zoos I’ve visited because you can get so close to the animals! They have so many chances to get up close to the animals and interact with them. We were fortunate enough to play with a 4-month old serval, a 2-week old baby tiger and a baby meerkat in the vet clinic area. We were then allowed to hold a monkey and get photographs. There is also a lovely bird enclosure where all the parrots and birds of paradise land on your shoulder and you can feed them with food bought at the entrance. The zoo keepers cared greatly for all the animals. You need to visit this rescue zoo! There were only about 30 visitors in the whole zoo when we went in mid September.

The zoo of Castellar de la Frontera is located along/on the A2100 just before the village itself. Well signposted with separate private parking.
Slightly expensive entrance fees, but that's for a good cause. Because this zoo is more of a sanctuary for all kinds of animal species.
You can buy pouches of food, which is great for children because they can attract multiple types of animals and see them up close.
Contrary to some negative comments on this platform, I found this shelter to be animal-friendly. Of course things can always be better, but the situation seems correct to me.
2 to 3 hours of fun relaxation, especially for children and support for this good cause. What else do you want?

Although I don't like seeing animals locked up, knowing that they are dedicated to saving them is quite encouraging. The main thing is that they look well cared for and cared for, taking into account that they are animals, of course. The staff shows their love for the animals...you have to like it a lot. Great morning and highly recommended, especially with children but important to make them see that they should not be there. The work of these people is spectacular 😊

Absolutely amazing place. Small but perfect. Took us 2 hours to do the whole experience including getting to hold baby monkeys, tigers, touch seals and then touch lots of other animals including birds and goats. I would highly advise arriving for 10.30am/11am as all the touching experiences start from 12pm. Love this place. And love how the animals are all rescued from harsh environments and cared for so beautifully. I am not a fan of zoos but this place stole my heart as its so different to a zoo

If you are in Castillar, it is a Zoo that you cannot miss, since with your visit you help many rescued animals...
The Zoo is entertaining for all adults and children...
The bird cage is spectacular, the most important thing is that they are animals rescued from abuse....

This kind of zoo shouldn't exist. Animals crammed into very small spaces, exposed to the groping of the public as if they were toys. People are going to take the picture and they don't think about animals. This must be denounced. Unexplained that such a site will be open in 2024
