I live here and this is the best beach in Vilanova i la Geltru. Free parking until the tourist season starts, then you can park for free in the streets away from the beach, but be prepared to wait as it gets very busy. Bus numbers 1 and 2 (to and from Vilanova Park) stop right in front of the far end of the beach. The beach is clean and as soon as the tourist season starts, they put toilets and showers on the beach as well as a little bar. You can rent sun loungers and umbrellas too. Better than the Faro beach at the other end of the port. Keep walking to the right hand side and you get to the nudist beach, if that's your thing. It's not touristy like Sitges and there are hardly any British people there, you can see some French families and a few from Germany/Scandinavia but it's pretty much locals who go to this beach. The sea is very shallow and is good for older people, kids, pretty much the whole family. take a beach umbrella if you don't rent one, as it's hot in the summer, and take a picnic!

Superb beach! Lovely soft clean sand, no pebbles, grit or shale etc. Gently shelving water easy to wade out for a swim! Also very uncrowded when we went in September. Would highly recommend to families, not just the beach but the whole resort.

I have visited beaches in several cities south of Barcelona: Cunit, Vilanova, Sitges, Calafel, Coma Ruga and my opinion is that this is the best: wide, clean sandy beach, small cafes on the beach and good restaurant along the passage. It's crowded at the weekends but it's so wide you fill comfortable.

Para pasear y practicar deportes Náuticos, la mejor playa con diferencia de Vilanova i la Geltrú. También hay una buena oferta de chiringuitos donde tomar refrescos y helados. Playa de ambiente muy muy familiar.

Clean beach, 6yr old could manage the waves (yellow flag) as very shallow, 3 yr old supervised constantly as waves too strong for her. Green flag, beach is perfect for small children. If you are visiting just after the festa major ends, beach area and sea not so clean following the fireworks show on the beach.

If anything differentiates Vilanova from Sitges is Ribes Roges neighborhood with its marvelous avenue and its magnificent beach. Clean, well kept, ideal for any children of any age, and for parents who are looking for a relaxed but fun family experience. With its chiringuitos, there are always plenty of choices for eating out. Also in the far end of the beach, you can find Chiringuito Miramar, a high end seaside restaurant in a privileged spot. Evening you migh visit Ceferino or Pachurri for dinner or have a cocktail. And if you are out for partying then head out to La Daurada, a beach terrace club where lunch or dinner also available with live music events from spring until autumn.

Hi there, we are considering staying in Vilanova i la Geltru or Castadelfells (near Barceloa) in the summer but with 3 children (13, 13 and 12) we were wondering if it might be a bit quiet, are there activities on the beach such as pedalos or kayaking or would we be better looking elsewhere on the coast? Thank you.

Hi, Villanova is probably a bit quiet for younger teenagers. Our kids were late teens and were happy to lounge around on beach or beach cafe. There are jet skis and limited water sports but it was not busy. Very few out in water at any one time. Vilanova is cheaper for activities and eating out compared to Barcelona and Surges. We did not visit Castadelfells. Hope this helps.

How do I get there from Barcelona airport by train ?
Written 27 March 2015
According to Google maps you can take a bus from the airport to the train station, with a couple of short walks, and then train to town train stop and walk a couple of blocks to the beach. Looks like 1:15 total time.
