Castillo de la Duquesa dates from around the 17th I believe and is really worth visiting. Its opening hours are displayed outside and I think it closes at least one day in the week, longer in winter and is rarely open in the evening. There used to be a market that appeared late summer but with COVID-19 I think that will be off this year. You get a different perspective on the surrounding area once you are standing on the ramparts. Well worth a look, it is free to access as well.

Castillo de la Duquesa has its feet in Roman Spain and there are recently excavated ruins along with the Roman Baths (sadly overgrown) in the Plaza de los Baños Romanos. Full of little family run restaurants, mostly specialising in fish (but also a reasonable Indian called 'Flame' a great little mini supermarket and a couple of beach bars. This little village is a welcome spot after the noise and bustle of the nearby tourist filled towns.

We love the Castillo. Its set very close to the coast and a wonderful addition to the heritage of the area.
There are a lot of nice restaurants in this enclave and the whole area has a tranquil feel.
a great place to relax

Well preserved little castle with interesting museums just a short walk from Duquesa port. It is also used for fencing classes and other activities which is a nice link with the past. Well worth a visit and admission is free

I live about 3 minutes drive from the fishing village of Castillo de la Duquesa, I've done so since 1982 but I'm no history buff. The castle houses some council offices and sometimes concerts are held there, but for people interested in history it is undoubtedly an interesting site. There are many websites that provide in depth information about the castle but Tripadvisor do not allow me to publish any links to them. A search in Google for "Castillo de la Duquesa" will produce many links to sites in English.
My interest in Castillo, as we call it, is in the eating places, there must be at least 20 bars and restaurants there. Prices are cheaper than in the nearby Puerto de la Duquesa and parking is easier. I've eaten in many of them and never had a bad experience but if I'm dithering I always finish up at Los Delfines.

How often can you find a little unspoiled Spanish village, a lovely beach, an excellent range of eateries, and a castle to boot. Castillo has all of this and an excellent chiringuito as well. I have travelled all over the world and this is one of my favourite places. It is absolutely charming.

Old fort plus behind it the remains of a larger development largely flattened. But its always nice to see these buildings from many hundred of years ago still exist.

I was staying quite near to here so I walked down to have a look. Sadly it was closed, and there was no indication of opening times on the outside. Lucky, in the evening we drove past on way to get food and it was open so I asked and it seems that it's only open 8am-3pm weekdays, you should check this. This is mostly a museum about fencing really, inside a fort. There is one room which has some antiquity, but on the whole, it's about fencing. Some of the items have English translation. It's a nice place if you are passing, but not worth a journey.

We came back to UK just before Xmas 2017. If my memory is correct it was opened sometime around 9 in the morning when the office workers arrived. They are friendly and some speak English. It's a nice place to visit.
