Not only is the home beautiful, but the story of it's history is fascinating. The Kylemore Abbey is open to the public to see a few of the rooms of the original home, albeit remodeled from it's original form. It's too bad not more of the home is open, but as it is now the home of the Benedictine nuns... More

Kylemore Abbey has been on my bucket list for a long time, so on a whim we decided to finally visit. After a long drive there we arrived about 3ish. On purchasing tickets at €13 each (which I found a bit on the pricey side) We thought it might have been better to offer some sort of reduced rate as... More

This was my introduction to Connemara and the beauty of the area. I did not expect while driving through the mountains that we would happen upon this gorgeous Abbey. I had seen pictures before since family members have visited but I felt very lucky to see it for myself. We walked around the Abbey reading about the history and taking... More

Really interesting place to visit. Lots to see, both indoors & outside. Little shuttle bus running from the walled garden to the abbey building was welcome in January, but would be a lovely walk in the summer. Didn't manage the walk to the mausoleum due to the weather, but will come back again in the summer. So much history there,... More

The Abbey was impressive with beautiful scenery surrounding it. The lake was so pretty and the walled gardens were lovely. The restaurant had a nice selection of Irish meals and were quite tasty. We enjoyed the rainy but warm walk through the woods to the chapel and grave of the former owner. There is also a very nice gift shop... More

The Abbey and gardens are beautiful but bring food with you especially if you have young children. I paid 6.95 euros for a pizza they said home made but 1/3 size of standard pizza I. Any restaurant. Also tasted very bad, not cooked and my daughter could only eat a mouthful

Beautiful area, well preserved. Some structural work is ongoing (2016) but well worth the short trip to see. The drive to Kylemore alone is worth it.

A lot of history to learn from in this part of Connemara -or anywhere else for that matter. It was previously a castle prior to become a school and an abbey. The location is kind of remote, so if you are coming from within the Connemara itself. signs if any are not obvious.

I visited here Saturday €13 per adult to access the abbey worth the tour stunning building steeped in history , loads of time to wonder . We'd lunch afterwards in the restaurant which is really spacious , loads of variety on the menu , great food , lots of space for families with buggies

Had a lovely visit to Kylemore Abbey and Gardens recently. Even in November the gardens looked amazing. We finished our visit with tea and carrot cake in the restaurant. Staff were very friendly especially Ann. Would recommend this visit.
