Over 30 species of birds, platoons of peacocks, eagles and hornbills. But topped off by elephants, crocodiles, water buffalos, iguanas, spotted deer etc. Just a great visit though worth seeking out the knowledgeable drivers.

Different again to other game parks we've visited in Sri Lanka and much quieter in terms of the number of jeeps. Nevertheless a wide variety of wildlife and the opportunity to observe elephants at close quarters. Well worth a visit.

This is I think the best park to be. We visited this park in the morning & must be there by 6am. We saw lot of animals & lucky to see huge 2 elephants fighting each other. Witnessed pack of foxes hunting deer as well. We enjoyed lot & was lucky on that day.

We went on an afternoon safari and it was less crowded than Yala national park which has jeeps coming out of your ears. Plenty of elephants and birds, we saw a white-bellied sea eagle feeding her babies in their nest, a crested hawk eagle and crested serpent eagle as well as loads of other birds, blue-tailed bee-eaters everywhere, little green... The queue to get into the Park at dawn took an hour and a half so despite getting up at some ungodly hour we still lost the best game viewing time. When the Park gates opened at 6am, the entry queue was about a hundred safari vehicles. Only one person was on duty at the pay till. The entry price... More

Only the way to Udawalawe park is amazing. When you arrive, you got into your jeep. If you book cheaper, you might get worse jeep with worse viewing conditions. Then you have to pay the entry fee per person. The whole safari is a bit expensive so it`s worth to find a group so that you can fill the jeep... More
