Rude landlady

Rude landlady. Only caters for locals. Despite us being in the pub on and off for months she did not seem us as regulars, so was so rude my daughter cried. AVOID AT ALL COSTS

Charming, quaint, welcoming stay over
Jul 2020
Situated in the village of Wolsingham, the Bay Horse Hotel is a converted 19th century farmhouse. The bar is stunning, warm, comfortable, and inviting. The restaurant is small and quaint, giving the option of an intimate diner for two, or as a party. The rooms are pleasantly decorated and en suite. However, there are a lot of stairs so would not be suitable to some.

We spent four nights here, and it felt like family. Staying in room two, we had access to the front balcony. The views from this are great. Taking in a beck, bridge, stone cottages and rolling hillsides, it is an ideal place to while away a few hours with a nice glass of wine. Our hosts, Amanda and Rob, were amazing. Friendly and welcoming, they made us feel at home. As we were the only guests mid-week, they allowed us a good lie-in and made breakfast when we went down, rather than a strict timetable. They had great local knowledge on good walks, attractions and events. They could not do enough for us, even offering a fleece blanket so we could enjoy the balcony one cooler evening.

Bed and Breakfast starts at around £50; meals are around £10. A well-stocked bar has a wide variety of drinks, beer and such is from Cameron’s Brewery.

The Bay Horse is perfect for a drink, meal or short stay. For walkers, it’s ideally sited for access to Weardale. With only a short stroll to the high street, it’s a great place to forget it all, relax, and enjoy some fresh air.

Confused!
Aug 2019 • Solo
I travelled up The Dale this Day to Stanhope for A Local Film show;
I could have quenched thirst in a Market Place Hostelry, but chose Not to do So.

Making my way to Wolsingham, I passed several more through the Town;
My choice however, though Clean and bright, made me feel Let Down.

No so the Balcony Welcome by two local, happy lads;
Sadly, at the Bar, a Smile was absent as I ordered..Just one of my 'Fads'!

I presumed 'Mine Host' was preoccupied so chatted to fresh clientele;
Later choosing to drink on the Porch, with same,I got on well.

It is said: The First Few seconds makes the connection or not; Perhaps it was just Me;
Yet no matter what sort of Day One has Had, the Customer Should Not See.

I know the Hotel Very Well and do not wish to blight;
For it has stood the Test of Time; it's Warmth will Always Turn Out Right!!

Stayed at the Bay Horse while visiting friends. This is a typical village pub offering B&B. The hosts Amanda & Rob are very welcoming and they do everything they can to make your stay pleasant & enjoyable. They do an open mic night every Monday for budding buskers/singers which is a brilliant night. The rooms are basic but spotless & comfortable. The locals are friendly & welcome a little banter. All in all, a great couple of days out in the sticks. Thank you for your hospitality. Ray & Kev (Sheffield)

Apr 2019 • Couples
We received a warm welcome from the staff team and locals in the bar on arrival which was great. The rooms have everything you need and are clean. They come with shower gel, soap etc there is a tv, chairs and our room had a terrace which was nice on an evening and morning. The hotel is well located for amenities and local walks. Would stay again and recommend.
