Intriguing non-tree that looks like a tree

Great to see some interesting flora of this island and a bit of history about the culture of the pre-hispanic peoples who once lived on the Canary Islands.

An umbrella-shaped drago tree is the cause of a lot of traffic in the area. Might be difficult to find a parking spot. Around the block there is a small indoor park that is worth the few euros. The park is also home to a pretty botanical garden. It certainly is worth making a stop in Icod to see this... More

I visited El Dragolast weekend. We parked in the multi-storey car park, and looked at the models of Nazareth,Bethlehem, and Egypt. This seemed slightly incongruous but was appreciated by my granddaughter. We wound our way through the town to find the tree, stopping first at the Plaza, then going down to the park. You can see it for free, but we chose to go... More

If yoi have never seen a Drago tree then you simply ought to see this millenial one. It is a stunning one. The whole thing looks out of a saga film.

It was a February overcast day when we visited. We both enjoyed the Parque very much and we are not botanists nor are we particularly gardeners. There are lots of little paths to follow which take you off into various areas of the Parque. There are also the caves that gave an interesting insight into the burial practices of the... More

Paid €5 each to visit this wonderful park. Really lovely setting, lots of trees, plants and chickens/ducks within the park itself. Lots of nice walks that don't take it out of you and the cave is really fun. Being able to get up close to the dragon tree is great too. Lots of photo opportunities

El Drago Millenario is definitely not a thousand year old as advertised, its age is not more than 370 years, but still it is the oldest Dragon tree in the world and looks quite spectacular. The tree and the park around are well advertised, but if one is not into botany, there is nothing over special in it. The visit... More

The last time we were in Icod de los vinos, we saw the Dragon Tree from the main square, over the wall. This time we found the entrance to the Parque del Drago. The entrance fee was modest 5euro adults (3euro OAP}. It is a surpisingly large park in a steep valley, so is sheltered. The Dragon Tree has an... More

If you are into plants you should definitely go and take a walk thru this park at the end of which there is an 1000 years old tree, El Drago.

All 5 of us are gardeners, so when we heard about the Dragon Tree, it was a must do. The road into town can be very steep so proceed cautiously. Parking is difficult but there is a garage to the east of the Parque and it is reasonable. You may not want to pay by machine as we had some... More
