This church like so many in the white village in the mountains was once a mosque. The mineret is there yet but converted to a church steeple. If you want to see a real minert go to Archez. But the inside of this church and...More
We were unable to visit inside this church as there was a service going on. The outside of the building is beautiful built in 1505 and the inside looked from the door stunning. Will have to wait to visit properly when next in the area.
The central square with church is nice. There 3 restaurants (although they appear to be one) on the sqaure for food , drink and just people watching as almost all visitors and town folks seems to pass by if you stay a couple of hours.
This delightful church in the main square is worth a visit. Its dark interiors hide a wealth of features from lovely galleries to stained glass windows. It provides an island of calm reflection in this busy but charming village
We were touring in Competa and walked up to the main square. This church is the focal point of the town. While we were visiting they had a funeral in the Church. The location made an impressive sight and added a lot to our visit.
Went into this lovely church to light a candle. Not keen on these electric ones but put a €1 coin in and up popped 5 lit candles! The church is small with some lovely artwork and the tiles on the walls outside are stunning.
We drove up into the mountains from Nerja & visited the towns/villages of Competa, Archez & Salares.
Competa & its lovely church is definitely worth the drive, very charming, pretty & less busy than the tourist hotspot of Frigiliana.
