We came here many times last year while we was travelling Asia. After spending a year and half in Australia we decided to travel back through Thailand before going home. We just wondered up the high street to check if our go to places where still there and was gutted to see an overpriced Irish bar in place of this!

Sorry to say , we closed our doors for Legends last year. The offer of a new lease was made to us by the landlords but was totally unreasonable , one of the terms being we had to increase our prices to theirs ( they own the restaurant next door )
This was not acceptable and they took the building over , turning it into an "Irish pub".
You can follow us on legendskohsamui/facebook. And any developments will be posted on our page , regarding our relocation , when it happens.

I am currently looking for a new location for Legends.
The terms for the lease extension offered by the Landlord were unreasonable.

This is by far the best bar in Chaweng, I have been many times over the years and it saddens me to hear this has now been shut down due to the landlord making the lease too expensive, It doesn't leave much choice for those of us who don't want to go to techno/ dance bars and just want a cold beer and relax to some old school 80/90s classics - sort this out Landlord don't get greedy!!!

Good value for cocktails, with a relaxed atmosphere. Be careful, not to use a tank top, otherwise the waiter will not serve you, only a t-shirt

Don't know who wrote this review , but
a) we closed down in October
b) we only ever refused to serve customers with no shirt , tank tops were fine !
But thanks for the 5 stars , and indeed to all our valued customers , we are looking to relocate soon.

Sadly , we had to close our doors as the terms of our lease extension were totally unacceptable to us .
We are currently looking for new premises.

Looking for a cocktail, we ventured out into the streets of Chaweng and found the Legends Bar on the main strip.
Welcomed straight away by the barman we ordered two Margaritas (cocktails 100 bht) and sat down. The drinks were cold and very lemony... though enjoyable the level of alcohol in them was somewhat questionable.
The music in the bar was good, being cool easy listening rock from the 70's. There is an external bar and an internal bar and you can order from either one. Cool music legends pictures all over the walls and a comfortable vibe to the place.
We did not sample the bar bites available, but we did note that they had a good selection to choose from - mostly bar comfort-foods like thick cut chips, nachos, burger/fries, garlic bread, toasties and even vegemite/marmite on toast & chip butty's.
Would revisit... hopefully next time the cocktails will be a little stronger.

Thanks for coming , you can always ask for a little more tequila if you would like - as our cocktails are only 100b they are obviously measured but a little drop more not a problem , we aim to please !

I've been coming here for nearly 19 years, in all that time Legends has been my go-to bar on the main beach road.
Chang beer is still only 49bt and all the other bottled beer is priced the same, or cheaper than the surrounding bars, especially in Soi Green Mango.
Cocktails are great and really cheap and their premium cocktails are 120bt but that's for 1/2 litre.
The busy staff are great, really friendly and very helpful. Food is limited to good range of bar snacks, but you must try the homemade thick cut chips. The do take about 15 minutes, but they are not frozen, they peel, cut and make every portion fresh. The curry sauce is also to die for.
The one thing that stands out about this bar, its prime purpose is the music, great tunes, great videos of all the greats and some real popular music as well. If you want a sports bar or a bar that plays loud techno type music, Legends is not that. There are plenty of those around at a much more expensive price for a nights entertainment.
All in all, I've been popping in there for a great night all this time and can't imagine a reason to stop. It has it all, great cheap and excellent drinks, tasty snacks, fantastic staff, fab location and the best range of music on the islands.
I know, it's only rock and roll, but I like it!!

Having traveled for holiday in Samui for more that 25 years I can confirm this; There is only one bar in Samui that plays the music from my era. Legends has stood alone in this area for many years. Legends is a breath of fresh air in an area surrounded by Techno/Dance clubs that pound you into submission with the overwhelming BOOM BOOM. If you want a break from that type of environment then Legends is the spot. Not only do they play classic rock 24/7 they offer very accommodating service, are centrally located and have very reasonable prices to boot. Andy is an English guy and the proprietor and has been operating in Samui continually for more than 25 years. Very few can claim that title other than the Reggae Pub;-)) Give Legends a try you wont be disappointed!

Legends in Chaweng is sadly no more. The greed and incompetence of the landowner meant that Andy felt it was no longer sustainable.
