A great drive and amazing vistas

Not a fast drive, but take the time to stop and enjoy all the viewpoints If you are lucky you will encounter mountain goats- driver pay attention

We have been on camping holiday in Vallon-Pont-d'Arc 4-5 times in the last decade. And it has been a pleasure every time. For a Norseman the landscape is very dramatic and the climate pleasant Some very nice hotels and camping sites in the area. And a river to canoe or swim in. Or both of you take a canoe trip... More

This gorge is stunning and the only way to really appreciate it's beauty is from the bottom which means canoeing or kayaking. A couple of years ago I went canoeing here with my family. We had canoed in France many times before but this was difficult. We had a number of nasty capsizes. My children became hysterical about getying back... More

Had an awesome time here, hired a Canadian canoe and camped along the way down, was really peaceful with the odd fast rapid for excitement, would definitely recommend for families (as long as they are old enough to swim).

We hired canoes from our campsite and decided to leave early as the river gets very busy, very early. The rapids were very tame but due to the volume of canoes all trying to run the rapids at the same time it gets congested and lots of overturning on one particular set of Rapids. This was the only one where... More

Staying in the Rhone valley this is one of the must see places to visit. A beautiful long gorge cutting deeply through the rock. The arch cut through by the river affording lovely beaches for swimming and canoeing and restaurants hotels and camp sites too.

We only visited part of the l'Ardeche by driving from Vallon-Pont-d'Arc towards Aiguèze for about 3 hours. - There are total 11 official view points in 30km with clear signs on the road, don't waste your time to find any suitable spot because those view points are really nice enough for breathtaking pictures - This driving direction advantage as you... France is full of visual delights. Our all-time favourite so fara; Les Gorges du Verdon in eastern Provence, but Les Gorges de l'Ardeche are also very impressive -- and the top sight is Pont D'Arc, one of the world's most impressive natural bridges. Avoid the summer, and weekends in the shoulder seasons, because the traffic will be very slow and... More
